It reminds him of Wind in the Willows, a book that scared him as a child. Silly man, he'll get over it. ; ) Thanks for finding it! I don't think that's a bad price if it's good quality. It's just DH and me most of the time and we aren't hard on furnishings. I have a Broyhill chair that was marked down from $800 to $500 that I got for $450 (talked them down another $50) and it still looks practically new after 3-4 years. whenicit, that site has some lovely chairs. Thanks for the feedback, yayagal and walnut creek. I was beginning to get nervous about the black. I don't know if you looked at the Thomas armchair, but that is quite simple. When not in use, I was going to place them in front of the window where the low red/goldish chairs are now. I was getting them in a pretty seafoamish-sage green because all my furniture in the adjoining family room is cream. To go with them, I was thinking of these aimple mission style side chairs, in black, but maybe now to match the table, with the same green upholstery seats. Thoughts, photos? I looked, and looked, but no luck. There are similar ones, but none with the saddle bag arm. The back design of the chair looks dated to me…and notice how there is no head/neck support. Maybe the chair is vintage.

Love your table, I hope you keep the legs as is. They’re unique and give it character. I would do parsons chairs. The nice, simple shape goes well with the curves of the bentwood chairs. The height of them will make a nice balance with the heavier table and lower chairs. Plus, easy to find at many price points and you could do any fabric you like. Mixing different end chairs is certainly not ”passe” in the design world. Passe is calling them ”master and mistress” chairs. This board just cracks me up sometimes. One of my fav IG accounts just posted this wonderful heavy table with a mix of low chairs. I don’t think heavy tables have to have big heavy chairs for scale or to look good. Especially in a modern coastal aesthetic. Anyway, this not the style you’re going for here, just showing an example of a unique and eclectic look in regards to scale and style, like your table and chairs will be. It can be done and look wonderful.
