How to update a small bungalow exterior.
Comments (8)I think it would look great to clad the stucco in dark gray or dark blue siding and leave the stone as-is. If you want to paint the stucco, I think you need more of a contrast between the stucco and the stone. Right now it looks very flat. What other colors are used in your neighborhood? Agree that the roof needs an inspection and repair. Your bungalow has a lot of character- if you have extra budget for the exterior (now or in the future) I would consider an adorable path (instead of the sidewalk), some larger plantings in the front bed, and updated fixtures on the porch (can’t see what’s there now but presume it could use a refresh). What a great project- I hope you post the final result!...See MoreExterior Paint Scheme for 1920's Craftsman/Bungalow
Comments (3)Its a very cute house. Congratulations on your new home. I dont blame you though, I would be wanting to paint too. That blue doesnt go with one darn thing. i do really like your brick, and it looks like it belongs on your house, please dont paint it. I would look really close at the brick, and the color of the mortar and pick a color of either the mortar or a color in the brick itself ad repaint that blue really fast. I would paint the window trim white, which is probably the way it was when the house was built. I cant tell exactly what color that foundation is, except that it is way too light. It makes the house look like its sitting on a big box on a green yard. Try and pick a color really close to the brick, or a darker gray or brown (I cant tell the color of your roof for sure) so that it looks grounded....See Moreexterior paint for 1920's stucco spanish bungalow in California
Comments (12)We in the north where this is a fairly common solution. Here is the description from a local stucco company's website: " This stucco refinishing is often called a “re-dash.” The stucco refinishing basically applies a new two-coat stucco finish over the existing stucco. Often, stucco repairs are necessary first, and when the stucco refinishing is completed, the home looks brand new. Foley Exteriors would never recommend painting stucco. Stucco is naturally porous, so paint prohibits the stucco from “breathing,” as it seals the pores that allow moisture to escape through the stucco. We have found that a refinishing the stucco might initially be slightly more expensive than a quality paint job, but the stucco finish requires little to no maintenance. Paint requires frequent maintenance, and might only last a few years. A new stucco finish should last for decades, making it a much better value than the alternatives."...See MoreNeed help picking exterior paint for craftsman bungalow
Comments (28)I like the blue one celery just did. more of a grayer blue, or a greenish blue and yes, correct sized shutters. the ones you have are too skinny. (or remove them completely. ) Don't forget the accent colors. love this blue, but the adjoining warm wood really accents the look. Pink not your thing? choose a coral, or green this w/natural cedar looks beautiful. do the cedar shutters...See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
