Advice with poor performance from new(ish) AC system
Comments (19)Update: The AC company that originally put in the Furnace and Coil came out this morning. As others have already suggested they said the blower being capable of feeding a bigger system could not account for the poor cooling that I was seeing. They tested pressure and I think it was 65 140 (although I couldnÂt really see that well) they said everything outside seemed ok and were going to focus on inside. They too seemed to be focusing on the orifice/capillary tube and by process of elimination said it couldnÂt really be anything else. They removed it and said it may be too big, they said it was a number 65 (not sure what that means). The looked on their truck to see if they had another one but didnÂt. On putting the system back together after clearing with vacuum pump the system appeared to be working correctly. They suggested that perhaps the orifice was originally not seated properly. Looking at the gauge they had connected outside the readings were 70 and 225, IÂm assuming that is pressure in and out. Of course they want paying for this work which IÂm going to dispute at least some of it because if was not installed correctly last year then IÂm not sure why I should be paying now. Their argument is that I should have called sooner after the install. My response is that I did call them soon after the system was installed and was told that the upstairs system has to work harder (heater rises, longer ductwork etc) and towards the end of the summer last year it was difficult to really tell how well it was performing. After they left I started taking readings again. The first very positive sign was the air coming out the ducts was high 50s where as before it was high 60s to low 70s. TodayÂs reading are: Time TempOut HumOut TempIn 11:45 75.7 37.9% 71.3 12:50 77.8 36.0% 70.8 13:45 79.2 35.1% 70.7 14:45 81.3 32.8% 70.8 15:35 76.3 35.1% 71.2 I will do take the measurements suggested in the link as soon as I get a humidity sensor....See MoreWater level in Maytag Performance series
Comments (5)I have the Performance Series 3000 model - have had it for less than a week so I'm also on a learning curve. Because the tub tilts backwards and these models use so little water, I'm not surprised that there is no standing water in the front of the tub - that would be a lot of water! I see what you mean about things just getting wet, but I see in my Maytag that they are soaked - they are just not floating around in water as in the old TL. It just takes getting used to, I think. More detergent probably isn't the answer -then you'll get suds like crazy and cause an error code (has happened to me already on Sanitary). Currently, I use the Tide HE liquid and either fill it to line 1 or less. I can't tell if things are that much cleaner than in my old TL, but they seem clean enough for me. I also think you can put in more than 4 jeans as listed above. Yesterday, I washed two thick twin sized quilts on "heavy duty" and probably had room for more (although I have been cautious about overloading). I know that I could only dare to fit one of those quilts into my old TL at a time. The FL handled two just fine. Loading just may require common sense too. Keep in mind that when the items get wet, a lot more space opens up. What may seem like a lot of laundry dry isn't that much once the cycle starts. I said several times yesterday after seeing what I thought was a full load wash - "oh I could have put in more clothes!"...See MoreWashing Performance of Speed Queen FL
Comments (23)Seems to use a reasonable amount of water, as you can always see it sloshing around in the drum. Every so often, there are some fabrics or items that seem to retain the detergent suds more than other loads. Then it is a simple matter to flip the "extra rinse" switch on. For a bulky sleeping bag, for instance, we've learned to use the extra rinse, since we don't like any detergent perfumes to remain in the bag. The machine controls are so basic, however, that you must remember to flip the "extra rinse" option off for the next load as it does not reset to a "default" off setting. To counter that, we developed the habit of scanning ALL the control settings (as in all three; big deal) prior to walking away from the machine. Simple, but effective....See Morean undergarment question... for the ladies!
Comments (28)Thanks for all the great suggestions! I didn't just dismiss a thong without trying them. I own a pair and have worn them 5 or 6 times, thinking I would eventually get used to them. Not going to happen! I don't want to wear hose under my pants because I live in Mississippi.... HOT, HOT, HOT in the summer. I may try cutting a pair of pantyhose off though. I had never thought of that. I may also check out the spanx... I'm not familiar with those so may check out that possibility!...See More- 4 years ago
