Using outdoor furniture indoors

Hello ya’ll,

has anyone used outdoor furniture indoors? Is it comfortable enough for indoor use? I would be using it in our tv free living room... So no lounging for hours. However it would be a place for guests so I don’t want them to be soar (laugh). I wanted to use rattan/wicker.

You have to try things out to see. My outdoor furniture is perfectly comfortable. I have wrought iron from Brown Jordan and wicker from Lane Venture. As for a TV free living room, Hello friend! I have had people lecture me on how little it would cost to mount one on my wall. Ha!

I used a wrought iron patio table in my dining room and loved it. It was painted white and had pink leather seats and a glass top. Sun sparkling on it was so pretty. I don't see why you can't use outdoor furniture inside, if it is comfortable, that is.

Hello mazelady! Leenamark is right, you should be fine as long as you make sure you put on two or thee coats. Another thing you can do to prolong its life is to keep an eye on the weather and if it is suppose to storm really hard just bring them in real quick. You would be amazed how much just doing this for those big summer storms will prolong the life of any patio furniture! Another option is to go out and buy a cover for them, those also work wonders! Hope this helps!

That particular bench is 30inches deep so I am guessing that it will be a bit more comfortable than most. If I decide to go that route then I will definitely go to the store and sit on it first. I am debating going with a bench for my living room in a ranch house. It is one of the options I am looking at for my living room which is very narrow (and which I have moaned about on the forum quite a few times). We have a couch, and I have been looking at love-seats, but most of them are just too wide. I am also looking at settees as an option, but can't seem to find a style that I think will look okay in the space. We currently have a tan colored leather couch that sits against a bay window which has woven blinds as the window covering. Since the space is small, I figured a bench would give additional seating that you can spread out on a bit, but not make the space look too cluttered.

I'm in Southern California. The hot sun can be harsh on wood and upholstery. Teak and redwood furniture hold up better outdoors than other woods. I have teak chairs and had cushions made for them in Sunbrella frabic.

Thanks everyone. I ran back a took a picture of it, hard to see with the chairs around it. I think as much as I like the table, I need something less "outdoors" and more contemporary to go with my family room at the other end of the room. Something like the Mango wood TV stand I found at HG would be nice. It's a long narrow room.

Absolutely you can use outdoor furniture indoors. One piece of advice, don’t use a “set”; mix and match the pieces.

Erinsean...me too with a wrought iron, glass table top in the dining room, 40+ years. O.W. Lee is the brand. The chair seats are upholstered vinyl, the backs just wrought iron roses. It’s all comfortable enough. We have had it reupholstered a few times. I think we even had it re-powder coated again, white. I’ve wanted a nice wood set on occasion, but I don’t know what we’d do with the wrought iron set.

O.W. Lee is now making masks. California company.
