How would you paint my house?
Comments (36)Ok so lots to think about here. Here is what my husband and I have decided for sure: No to painting the brick for the time being. Maybe paint the siding a green and front door a white or buttery yellow. Put money into the gutters which need to be replaced (white?) and then put money toward landscaping even if we do not paint the house this Spring. I think landscaping is where we should put our money. Now to your comments which I so appreciate! @jamie-I wish I could see it too! I still think for me green would make me happier even if one color would be better. @Lascatz-Thanks for your thoughts. I do think landscaping is emerging as more of the issue! @Lyfia-Wow! I never knew you could even stain bricks! I love this forum and am touched that you went out of your way to find a link for me. I do think it looks like a bit much in terms of work for us. Thanks for the suggestions though! @Karen-Your post made me so happy! I can't believe how much better that green color made it all! Thank you for posting your pictures. I appreciate them! @mrose-Thanks! I do think I am now shy to paint the brick and I can't stand the idea of more orange, even if the right terra cotta. I guess I'll have to unify it all with landscaping! I be sure to post pictures. @annie-Yes, Photoshop would be perfect. I need to find someone who can do it for me though. I looked at my grout and had thought it was beige like the siding, but it is grey and even green gray if that is possible. I do think a grey green mossy color is the way to go! @Lizbeth, Yes landscaping. Our roof is only 5 years old and I hate that the previous owners went the orange route once again! I would have loved to see my house with a gray roof too! : )...See MoreCan someone photoshop me a porch on my house
Comments (32)newhomebuilder...don't mind me, I'm going blind! Seriously, I didnt see the hip section on the left but now I do. So with your drawing, there will be three triangular shapes including the exsiting hip. Gotcha! When my parents did theirs the roof line was just straight across and it was very easy to add on. Their door was not recessed back at all. So now I want to see what you're doing to YOUR house...LOL. I thought you had a brand new one?? rdsso, I can't wait to see how this turns out for you! Looking good on her virtuals!!...See MoreSomeone wants to look at my house and I'm not ready
Comments (25)When we were building, we put our house on the market and sold it the first week. The buyers needed to close within 90 days or lose their quoted mortgage rate so we closed in September although our house wasn’t going to be ready until January. We rented our house back from them but here’s the deal with that. Unlike a normal renter/tenant agreement, we would have been responsible if anything broke, such as furnace, stove, etc. When January came, our new house was not even close to being ready but the owners wanted their house. It was hard to find housing for less than a year lease but we were lucky our builder had another development of apartments that we rented for five months until our house was ready. The stress was incredible, moving twice during that time and we had to put most of our furniture in storage. This time, we just bought a condo and now have to list our home. I’m not sure which is more stressful. I wish you luck on your move....See MoreHow can I make my 1887 plain white house exterior more interesting?
Comments (16)Really nice house. There is some white from the fascia on the underside of the shingles of the porch roof but that's not noticeable from a distance. If, however, you want a bit less white, you could paint the fascia the same gray as is dominant in the roofing but leave the window and door trim white. Where is the driveway? is the building behind the house your garage? Really like the Hydrangeas. Grass seems a lot healthier with the season change and your care. Did you do anything to upgrade the steps and/or sidewalk? If not, you might consider cladding the steps with brick or stone pavers and outlining your sidewalk with stone as well, leaving the tops of the outline material ground level. https://www.google.com/search?q=facing+concrete+steps+with+stone&client=firefox-b-1-d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiAs_qlwt_qAhXllHIEHUWkB3YQ_AUoAXoECA0QAw&biw=1366&bih=654#imgrc=5zN--r55-XLfwM You could then create a planting area along one side or both sides of the sidewalk or just outline the wider sidewalk with a planting of a low growing plant you like that grows well where you live (?Liriope?) . https://www.etsy.com/listing/804693762/liriope-flowering-grass?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_low-low_d-home_and_living-outdoor_and_garden-garden_decoration-yard_art&utm_custom1=ee26f8df-d4da-4642-96a7-2daebcf72e89&utm_content=go_6721326423_78897197949_388267833987_pla-310643597252_c__804693762&utm_custom2=6721326423&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjaXg9cPf6gIV1MDICh2EPgheEAQYASABEgIzXfD_BwE...See MoreKaren Franklin
