Of course I'll keep close in thought. And you, but for your worry....I think most hospitals have their protocol in place now and his risk to exposure should be minute if any.

Our 5 yr old great nephew had his tonsils out this morning. I wasn't happy about it, done in a larger city hospital, but his pediatrician said he would benefit and sleep better once done. It had originally been scheduled early March. At 5, they had him wear a mask in his outpatient/day surgery cubicle. Went like clockwork, procedure took 20 minutes and recovery maybe an hour and 20, then released. (he was covid tested Monday).

His Mom with him the entire time, Dad in the parking lot. She was very comfortable with the precautions and care taken.

A good friend was to have elective surgery on the veins in her legs. (she keeps getting blood clots) and then the virus hit so surgery was put on hold. She's going in this week for the surgery. She was very nervous about it but her son, a doctor in Cal., said now is probably the best time to go. The hospitals are pretty empty right now because of all the canceled surgeries. The virus has quieted down a bit and once the states start opening up, there might be an up tick so I think it's pretty safe and probably a good time to go. Sending good thoughts and wishes his way. Keep us posted.

Finally at 2PM he gets to come home. He has been there since 6AM, surgery was at 7:30AM to 9:30AM. He has been asleep from the anesthesia 4 1/2 hours. He always has had a hard time waking up from that, but never this long.

For the most part the surgery went well except for putting in the tube down his throat. His throat kept closing up according to the doctor. DS says it is sore, but the doctor said the soreness should not last long. Don't know what "closing up" means. I guess something to bring up with his doctor during the follow up. He will be sore from surgery for the next 3 days. They said he should take just over the counter pain pills for it.

He is requesting his favorites for dinner, mac and cheese and corn dogs, so guess he is feeling better. He has had 3 surgeries this last year. I wish he didn't have all these physical problems. I feel like I have aged 10 years.

YAY! I'm sure you're glad that's over and I'm sure your son is, too.

Good to hear. As far as closing up it means exactly what it states. An example of what happens is to put your forefinger on your thumb them make a tight fist. This is the example I was given when my esophagus spasms.

Thanks for the update, so glad the outcome is positive. Surgeries are never any fun, that's for sure.
