Good luck with the lithotripsy. You'll be fine. Tell the DH you'll expect a great meal about 40 minutes after you leave recovery a celebratory dinner. You're not falling apart you're trying to grow pearls! Some clue to drinking and eating habits to try to rid kidney stones. More H2O, less dairy products milk cheese yogurt ice cream and such. NO Cranberry Juice

My brother suffered with numerous stones and had surgery several times. It helped immediately. Here's to an end of your pain very soon. Good luck and take care. Enjoy that special dinner.

My DH has had the lithotrypsy done once- it is just sound waves that are used. You may feel a sore back for a few days. DH said it felt like someone had been poking him in the back for hours- He has had 3 of the laser surgeries and more stents than I can count. They will put you under for that- then you get to pass those stones! I so hope they figure out quickly what type of stones you are producing. The medication for my DH has never worked and he just keeps making them.

Aw, Clare, I'm so sorry you're going through this! The only good thing is that you're getting it taken care of tomorrow. That's really good. Yes, I too wish they'd listened to you and done it when you went to the ER, but.. at least it's going to get done now. Good luck and you'll be feeling so good in only another day. Phew.

I'm sure they were erring on the side of not rushing to conclusions, hence the wait.... usually stones do pass on their own, at least in this house!

Sending good thoughts and prayers for you!! Don't be surprised if you will be hurting...different type...after the lithrotripsy for a week or so. They will have to do alot of zapping on that one, I had 2 (1-6mm & 1-4mm) last time, and it was 2400 zaps. You will most likely end up with a big 'ol red spot on your back! And...you will still have to pass that residue, but so much better than the stone! Take care and don't try to do too much for a few days, your body is going through some pretty hard work!!!

Good luck and prayers for a quick recovery. Tell DH you'll take him up on that dinner in a week or two, when you can enjoy it.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and prayers. It must have helped because everything went well. The only hitch was the surgeon was running an hour late, but the surgery was quick. It was scheduled for 6PM but didn't start till 7PM. DH barely had time to get home to make dinner for him and DS, also Elvira the dog, then eat before turning around and picking me up. I am stone free for now. I go in to see him 2 weeks to get more information on prevention, diet and medicine.
