Question for you that knit /crochet
Comments (5)Well....that depends. First of all will you be knitting or crocheting? Crochet takes on an average 1/3 more yardage than knit to make the same size square. Secondly what will your gauge be....that is the number of stitches to the inch? That is determined by the size of the needle you use and the weight of the yarn. Once you figure out those things, you can find a pattern that uses the same gauge you plan on using and see what yardage of yarn they recommend, then use that figure for your baby blanket. If you are just doing a fairly simple blanket without fringe or add on crocheted flowers and the like you should be able to get by for about 500 yards of worsted weight yarn. Do you do Ravelry? There are a bazillion of adorable patterns there....for all sorts of wonderful things! Here is a link that might be useful: ravelry...See MoreCrochet Teddy Bear Pattern

Comments (10)I was hoping someone remembered them. Sigh. They were shown in red, white and blue -- probably back in the 70's. I wonder if it was near the bicentennial? My mom had a red, white and blue wallpaper in her kitchen and I was just learning/teaching myself to crochet. I didn't like a lot of the patterns, but liked these and she loved them. I'd like to make them in new colors. I have searched a number of websites -- and Ravelry. I wish I could be sure of the magazine the patterns was in -- seems like BH&G or such, but searched there too. Still haven't found them (I think there were 3 of 4 and I know I made at least 2 different patterns). I am going to try to create something similar -- and I may try one if wool and felting it. Will try to remember to post if I am successful in finding them or recreating them....See Moredecorative Crochet, and magic crochet- ordering info?
Comments (9)The company that distributes Magic and Decorative Crochet is Realtime Pub. Services out of Danbury CT. I called today, and they have combined Magic and Dec. Crochet into "Crochet Monthly", and they will honor your subscriptions until they run out and they are not taking any more orders for subscriptions. I asked how come I haven't rec'd any magazine since Oct, and the lady said they would be coming out sometime this month. (Seems like Crochet Monthly is only coming out quarterly.) That's all I could get out of their customer service dept. So I really don't know if Crochet Monthly is going to be a dependable magazine or not. Here's the phone # I have for them in case anyone wants to check on their own subscriptions 203-792-4700....See More- 6 years ago
