That's a fun one :-). Even if it isn't lined people could make it with a liner or over a mask as suggested.

Also they could put a filter pocket in it.

Not such a bad idea to put something fun on it. Apparently a lot of seniors are getting more anxious when they see people in masks now. Maybe making it's fun in some way I could help. Before you make it look like a clown in any way that will make sure they don't have clown phobia. :-)

This is a common problem with crocheting. You must be sure to do the turning chain which is in your pattern, then work back into the last stitch from the row before. You are reducing your work each row if you don't do this. Make sure every row you work is the same number of stitches--count as you go. Very cute. However it's full of holes! Not very safe. I saw some similar ones that were animals. So cute.

You could make this on a regular mask with felt. I've thought about making some fun ones.

I made some regular masks with cute fabric. I used Raven's idea of the clamp and used shoestrings to instead of paracord. Need thread before I can go much further.
