Help me pick a climber please!
Comments (14)Hi, I recieved a joseph's coat for Mother's Day. It seems to be doing great where I put it and growing great. My dummy question is I have never had a climbing rose, and not sure about what I should do for the training. It is planted next to a tall fence, and close to the corner of the house. So.... Also if anyone could help me. I have a rose from last year. Dont remember the name. Large red rose that blooms on new growth. It was great last year but this year I am having a problem that I blamed on the weather. The pedals outer edges look horrible. I thought maybe the wind and rain ( we had a lot this spring and early summer)but I notice that it is still happening and saw some already forming on some buds. Any idea what is going on? Please help a newbe out, my grandmother's are all passed away and mom dosent know anything about plants, flowers , etc...See Morehelp picking a hardy red climber
Comments (14)I just saw this post and wanted to say that I think you will be pleased with Illusion. The blooms are very pretty - 4 inches in diameter. They grow in clusters so the "show" is quite nice. Mine has no fragrance but is more disease resistant than other roses. It does need to be sprayed, though, in our zone 5. You could probably get away with not spraying it as often. This rose is VERY winter hearty. I hardly had to cut off anything this year! The repeat is not great so far but the first flush lasts quite awhile. It's a sturdy grower but not overly vigorous. It would grow nicely on an arbor....See MoreStooping to pick up a pop can tab, of lower value than a penny
Comments (44)The small frame of the tab, composed of a roll of aluminum, has to stay rigid as it pushes in the scored panel on the lid. It is also the little tab between the rolled tab and the lid that needs to stay intact until the scored panel is pushed in, and which breaks when the tab is removed. Sometimes it takes a dozen wiggles, sometime only a couple will suffice. As I mentioned in my post of Sept. 1, I collected 2,000 tabs in a 2-litre ice cream package, filling it about 3/4 full and I didn't weigh it, but it was not much over 2 lbs., 3 lbs. at the outside. It takes about 32 cans to make a pound - with or without the tabs. If you have a scrap metal dealer nearby, they will buy your scrap cans, and some prefer them uncrushed, but others don't care. Around here, they paid about 70 cents per lb., a few months ago. They say that the tabs and the cans all go into the same bucket. Crushed cans occupy about 1/3 - 1/4 the volume of intact cans. Comments (4)When I heard Acadian, I immediately thought Nawlins. The top house that is pictured seemed like a blend of modern farmhouse and Acadian, and the bottom seemed to have more Acadian characteristics. I am assuming that neither one is your new home. There are some great web sites that can give you inspiration: https://acadianapark.com/design/ http://acadiana-design.com/home-designs/ https://www.pinterest.com/archdesigns/acadian-style-house-plans/ Good luck!...See Moresbrklyn_7bny
