Carriage lights too big?
Comments (10)Those are gorgeous! I have to ask you where you got them b/c I'm searching for carriage house lights too. And so far, the ones I can find that I can afford are all either way too dinky for my garage or else are made so shoddy that they probably won't last a year. Those would be perfect! Unless your garage is pretty small, I think the lights will probably look great there. Its harder to guess whether they would overwhelm your front door. Depends on how grand the entry is. If you have a scaled elevation drawing (where 1/4 inch = 1 ft) you could make comparably scaled drawing of the light or use photoshop to resize the photo to the right dimension. Then cut out your drawing or the resized photo and lay it on top of your elevation drawing. Since the lamp is very slightly less than two feet tall and very slightly more than one foot wide, if you scale the image of the light so it is either 1/2 inch tall or 1/4 inch wide, it should be close enough to the right size to give you a good idea of whether it will fit on your house. If you decide you don't want those lights, maybe I could take them off your hands. LOL!...See MoreAre these lights too big for our kitchen?
Comments (19)Ah, you spotted dilemma #2! That's a pendant that will eventually be over the breakfast table (fridge is just there till we decide what to do about it). It will be a drum shade with either red or green stripes---we like the green pattern best but for weird reasons the green has brown accents and the red has black that match the big shades. Also, potential issues with green shade clashing with green wall....ugh! :) Here is a link that might be useful: Breakfast room shade...See MoreHelp! Cable from new Colorlogic pool light too big for pvc
Comments (9)"'m interested in your suggestion of using the niche as a junction box and transition to individual THWN. Do you mean splicing another wire to the existing, or stripping the outer black sheathing so the individual wires can be pulled through? " I mean that they would splice individual THWN wires to the cord that came with the light. That splicing would be done in the niche if OK by code and box fill requirements. You can't remove the outer sheath from the cable and then feed those wires through the PVC. The purpose of the outer sheath is for protection and water proofing. Again, talk to the contractor's electrician, not his installers. Make sure all this electrical is INSPECTED. Pools are particularly dangerous and you certainly don't want any catastrophes and accompanying liabilities....See More23 in. wide light too big for pedestal sink in powder room?
Comments (4)If you move the sink to be centered where the electrical is, it wouldn't be too wide. But if you re-center the electrical over the sink where it is, 24" would be too wide. One should move though, they need to be centered with each other. Derek Hurd Gravitas, Inc. 112 E 33rd St. Garden City, ID 83714 208.367.1184 www.gravitaslc.com...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
