6 years agoIt seems I don't take pictures of the outside of churches....These doors were once the outside doors of a small German church in a small town in MN. Significant because it was a church where my mother found solace back when she was shipped off to her grand parents farm as her mother struggled with brain cancer. FF 60 years and her grandson was married there, with little or no visits between.

Yes 55, not including any windows in the outside doors. Watched those windows being installed last week. Excuse me for two posts, but I found these old photos of Wake Island the other day. This is the chapel on this little atoll in mid-Pacific, and when I saw Jim's church on an atoll, I remembered I had this one. It is open air and has no formal services. Visitors or anyone stationed at the island are just allowed to come in at any time. When this was taken, we were among the first true visitors to return after a major hurricane and storm surge, which did a lot of damage to this portion of the island. If anyone wants to look it up (and its grim WWII history), it is located about midway between Hawaii and Guam. I was working there many times during my career.
6 years agoThis is St. Stephen's church in the north part of Boston. Rose Kennedy was baptized there in 1890 and her funeral was held there in 1995.
