Maybe the curl is wilt? LOL! J/K. I don't know why I keep this plant around, habit and sentimentality, it's been through most of my life with me. Just because it's indestructible doesn't mean it isn't fussy if one wants a good-looking one ALL of the time, yet in a too-small pot. I guess it's just like one of those bad kids a mother loves anyway, overlooking the bad behavior and unkempt appearance. Why don't I just stop trying to cram it into the same little hanging basket? Also forgot to mention that the number of individuals in a pot would affect how quickly the pot fills with roots. There's 5-7 in that trimmed clump in my hand. That's a lot for such a small pot and I know that. A single plant in the same pot would "last longer" but I like the appearance with a ton of leaves and many babies, even if it causes the plant to decline more quickly and repotting to come more often. If it was in some dark stuffy corner, it wouldn't grow as fast, there's that too. There's a whole gray area between just up-potting undisturbed roots and the drastic pruning from my pic. One could choose to trim less overall, or just remove the biggest "carrots." Or separate individual plants and just trim the roots of one. Braid them. (Just seeing if anyone read this far.)

Okay--we have one here at the store, came from my Grandma's funeral 16 years ago-"irene" as she is known is about 8 feet tall, after being "chopped" down 3 or 4 times, she got ot 12 feet tall like a Palm Tree and slowly bent her head over 1 day and came down on top of one of my employees head. He yelled ,Get that "weed" off of me and I thought he said get "irene" off of me--thus her name. Anyway, she all of a sudden has about 20 "spikes" (look the color of leopard spots) coming out of rolled up leaves all over the top of her. What the heck are they- in 16 years, she's never done that, Even her "babies" which were repotted during the chopping are about 3 ft now and don't have these things. What are they??? Help????

Kirk: I'm just getting to write to you about that "best Garage Sale ever !" The best part was you took your daughter.. the together. fantastic.. the icing on that cake really.. was that you and daughter had fun.. and helped the person who was having the sale.. Truly it is fun to buy treasures... But you all know Giving it away ( although I might not do enough of that - I try) but really the JOY OF GIVING IS G R E A T and I can just picture that lady getting so much pleasure seeing YA'LL having so much F U N and also the fact that she knew that her T R E A S U R E S now had found a new home with the perfect family to love them and treasure them and then pass them on along.!! I always taste test one grape. I am testing for firmness. I've had too many times when I bought grapes and when I get home, I find out that they are soft (not fresh). That is the fault of the store, so I do not feel guilty about eating one before I buy. As for cut fruit, I would never buy a cut watermelon or any other cut fruit because of dirty knives and I don't want someone's hands all over it. Also, I only buy USA fruit (except for bananas). That means no grapes from Chile, etc. In winter I wanted to buy an orange and they were from South Africa. South Africa! With California and Florida growing oranges, I have to buy an orange from South Africa? I actually looked up on Google the distance from where I live to South Africa and it is almost 8000 miles. I complained to the manager and he said that the store buyers try to get the best deal for the shopper. Wrong. They are getting the best deal for themselves. I'm not crazy about produce from Mexico, but I've resigned myself to that, unless I can avoid it. For example, tomatoes from Mexico. I would never buy the onions from Peru. And absolutely no garlic from China. I bought some frozen strawberries and when I got home I found out that they were from Egypt. Egypt! Come on! Those went straight down the garbage disposal. By the way, I shop at a regular grocery store---Stop and Shop.
