White wall paint for SW extra white cabinets

I ordered white shaker kitchen cabinets that I found out are SW extra white. I am having trouble knowing what white to paint on the walls. I want it to all look white. Should the wall color be darker, lighter, same as cabinets, match white quartz counter tops, suggestions? My kitchen area is south facing, and living area is north. It is a small area with low ceilings and tends to look rather dark. I was thinking I should use a warm white to liven up the space. Should I paint expand everything (ceiling, wall, doors and all trim the same color?) Floors are a light neutral/warm wood look tile. Contractor wants to use Behr paint. Any suggestions/advice?

The first place you address lighting is the actual lighting you have in the space. So you need pot lights maybe some pendants if you have an island all of those bulbs should be LEDs 4000K before even thinking about choosing a white. Whites are tricky and if this is a small space with more than one white already even trickier. IMO I tell my painter what paint I want, too bad if he doesn’t get his kick back. I am not saying Behr is bad just making a point. I will say we really need to see your space so acouple pics would be great.

Yes. You're exactly right. I was just wondering if the 2 can jive together. I've painted some samples on poster board and in some areas looks great and in others comes off a little blue. My husband will paint 2 smaller walls in the area to know for sure. Thanks for your advice!

Hi - there is a method for paint colour comparison you can access yourself, using the website EasyRGB .com. See the ‘how to’ via Youtube - the land of color - videos - ‘Color Muse - Use Hue Angle to Find Paint Colors‘ In answer to your question, this method allows you to do lots of things - including find the data for a colour by paint name AND input data, such as Lightness (Value) Chroma and Hue Angle° to see which paint colours are closest. Very cool! The information I gave you is in the Munsell system format, which is more complex to process. (Blue) But EasyRGB uses the alternative colour space of CIELAB. (Pink) Both can be plotted using the Color Wheel above. Using CIELAB, Software is approx 7 points darker and 0.14 more colourful. You can also compare their location within a Hue Family using the Hue Angle° You will notice the difference in Lightness, but the difference in Chroma is very small and unlikely to make much of a difference, especially outside.

First of all, what color are your walls? Is there a backsplash? And how much light does your kitchen get? You want to ensure Extra White will complement your walls and/or any tile. Also, what is on your floors? Here is a photo (from Houzz) with a bright white on kitchen cabinets paired with bronze hardware. I don't know what white this is, but you can see it's whiter than the marble counters but still looks nice. I think this is a realistic presentation of how your kitchen might look). I have Extra White on the exterior of my house, and I think it's a great white, but obviously that's not the same as having it in a kitchen. I think you are lucky to have white appliances and smart to keep them. People (like me) are getting tired of the ubiquitous stainless kitchens. I could wipe mine every evening and they are smudged by next morning.

My husband is a painting contractor and does a lot of new construction homes and right now paint is both hard to get and astronomical in price. That is why painting from the builder is so high. His subs are raising their prices as material costs rise and availability wanes. Get the cabinet color you want and then, when you are in the home, and can judge by natural light, throughout the day, pick the wall colors that will work best for you. order the stick-on samples to really get the feel in the room.........I have 4 stuck on my living room wall right now and another in my dining room.

I have no pictures as this is a total renovation project. I have put in numerous can lights and I do have island lights as well. Painting needs to be done before cabinets are installed. In looking at paint colors (just from paper chips considering the current situation), I have been unable to find a white paint color that doesn't clash, make paint look too cream, or make the cabinets look dingy or gray. I was hoping someone could recommend a white paint color to use with SW 7006 Extra White, or someone who has same color cabinets with pictures of what they used. If I am unable to find something, I think I will just use that same color on the walls.
