Part 2, sofa, chairs & fabric choices! *New Pic's*
Comments (19)Nice choices, tinker. Did you ask about doing some other leg, or something to eliminate the wheels on the couch? I don't care for the look of that, either. Can't wait too see how this all comes together. I think doing the couch and two chairs will prove to be a great choice for you. As for the floor plan, as I mentioned on the other thread, I think in part it depends on whether you are putting a tv above the fireplace. I like the second and third layouts, guess it depends if you want to have that extra accent chair. You might also try the two chairs on one side, couch opposite them (I would likely put the couch on the left side of the fireplace, so you don't have the feeling of a wall as you come into the room on the right. One other choice with just the two chairs would be to put the couch on the left, one chair on the right with its back to the counter, a table on the corner, and the other chair at a right angle to that, facing the couch. I might open up the seating area a bit....See MoreProblem with fabric on new sofa order!
Comments (19)Better Pictures below: budge1, I did find a nice velvet, but with a 6 year old, and lots of family members w/small children... I think I would end up hating it. Anyone hate footprints on carpet!? I d, and some fabrics remind me of that and it would drive me nuts. annie1971, thanks. I really am not concerned at all about the pillows - just the big expensive sofa! The chairs and sofa are actually from 2 different companies. This picture is more accurate in colors/texture . The sofa picture is a soft chenille. brutuses, thank you. The chair fabric is from Huntington House... and I love it too and feel comfortable with this, but with the difficulty I am having finding a sofa fabric... I am doubting my selection! Les, as always - thank you for your help! I have included (pic below)a great strip fabric that I found that I was thinking of adding for pillows. What do you think? Squirrel, what will I ever do without you!? You have such a great memory of my on going project! First, the fireplace width is only 66" (should have been 76-78")I need to play around with this area more, but as I see it now - it will look odd because it will end up tall and narrow. (does that make sense?) but the pre-fab ones will not work at this point, because all the legs are too short. As far as lighting - I have only purchased the bathrooms so far - so that is open to change, but I definitely want a warm, light bronze color or a silver bronze color. I am in Florida now, and I have seen both warmer tones as well as darker - and like both. Living with one or the other.. hard to say! Previous homes, I have had brown/beige and it was okay, favorite sofa I had was a solid chenille green, light the green in the chair fabric. I did love that room - it felt cozy. In the 80's I had my first new sofa - MAUVE - oh yuck, I hated it after just a few months! I don't "have" to purchase the furniture now, but since I already invested so much time, and I do need furniture to sit on (if I don't buy - room will be totally empty as the old is already gone). It takes 12 weeks ++ I really want to finish this! Oh.. and paint, I do just have a light neutral right now, but think I would change the paint to SW blond or restrained gold if I go with the new sofa color. gk5040 Thanks for your help too! This is another option... I like the color and color-wise is is almost the same as my first fabric. It is also a soft fabric, but look very close at the picture and you will see that it does have a light pattern to it (which is why I have initially voided it) Pattern has slanted lines /\ /\...See MoreNew Sofa help! what fabric/color?
Comments (20)I like the blue. It is more interesting and different than everyone else has. Dark blue goes with as wide a variety of colors as any so don’t let that bother you. Not sure what kind of content the blue fabric has? Check that for durability. Go for it. You could use caramel, or tan , oranges, fuchsia, off whites, lime green just a whole bunch of interesting choices....See MoreBrand new sofa stained - crypton fabric - help!
Comments (18)Omigosh @jhouse I didn't see your comment 2 years ago and just got notice of this thread being revived and saw it. I am completely in love with my Crypton. No pills, spills and stains (tho I am careful) are easy to remove with a damp cloth and some dish soap. I wrote about what I bought in the previous comment, but I guess I didn't link to the actual fabric. I'm sure it's too late for you but maybe someone else can use the info B5605 Parchment the herringbone is very small and barely noticeable as a pattern. https://www.greenhousefabrics.com/fabrics/category/crypton_fabrics I think the pilling problem might be caused by the blend of the fibers. This is mostly rayon, which is very soft to touch and doesn't pill. I can imagine if you selected a blend with mostly poly or acrylic, pilling could be a problem. It also has a 63,000 double rub durability, which also might affect the pilling, not sure. It's also USA made and is water cleanable. I imagine if you got one that is NOT water cleanable and used water on it, that could affect it also. This fabric has no pills at all, even when I've rubbed it removing a stain. Even that doesn't affect the appearance of the fabric....See Moreeld6161
