composting and/or vermicomposting plants with powdery mildew

Hi!

Two questions:

  1. Can I feed worms leaves that have been hit with powdery mildew?

  2. Can I microwave and/or bake leaves with powdery mildew to kill it before adding to a regular compost?

Background:

Mostly first time gardener here! I planted my sweet peas in winter way way too close, and now they are dying from powdery mildew - I've been spraying and pruning best I can, but it just won't go away.

I've done research, and haven't found any information on whether these plants with the PM can be fed to worms. Second, I have read that if one wishes to add them to regular compost, it's best only if you are sure the temperature in the compost will reach and remain at a specific temperature. I have a small tumbling composter without a thermometer, it is not a 3x3x3 size, and since I'm not sure whether the temperature will get hot enough, can I microwave or bake these PM infected leaves to kill the fungus then throw into composter? :)

I know it'd be better to just throw them out, but.. this is mostly a curiosity to help me learn. Thanks :)
