Oui hoovb - it gets very, VERY hot and humid here. That's why I'm so ecstatic over the spring flush when I can go out and enjoy the weather. I basically stay inside in the AC all July and August. The fall flush is equally appreciated for those reasons. I love seeing roses in October and November. I'm hoping for good things from Tea Clipper, it only has three blooms on it now, I don't know how many buds, but it is over 4 feet high but narrower, maybe 2 1/2 to 3 feet wide. I'm going to have to support it in some way while it is going through its awkward teenage phase. It is in full sun in really good soil so I'm hoping for the best. It is grafted. I decided almost all Austins do better grafted, at least here. I do have canker problems here too, Maggie always gets it but manages to throw out new canes every year. I lost a lot of roses a few years back to canker after the Easter freeze. TG didn't have any problems with it this past winter even though it was a colder one than normal. Maybe it is because we didn't have the normal January thaw and no real freeze/thaw cycles at all. Hopefully my pyramid structure will help support the canes so they don't snap off. I had a wonderful Teasing Georgia here on Vashon Island near Seattle for 11 years. Last winter it died, cause unknown. But it regularly grew to about 8'-10' tall, or taller...tried to keep it down where I could reach the flowers. For weeks it would be covered by sprays of beautiful creamy roses. I now have a new own root one growing. I suspect the original one may have been a grafted one from David Austin. Anyhow, it was and is one of my favorite roses, and when in bloom in a sunny spot it is just awesome! I grew mine against a cattle wire fence that serves to keep deer out of our garden. Can't wait until my new one is up and going! Color varied from barely cream colored to pale yellow but mostly I would classify it as "cream"...no apricot at all to it.

Kate, My largest TG plant is 13' high and 9' wide, but that is counting some new canes at the top. I'd say most of the plant is about 9x9'. The octopus canes at the top are bigging to arch over. It is not a sprawly gangly plant, but mostly makes a well-branched sturdy plant, just a nice shape and covered in blooms when it blooms. My smaller TG plant is not as happy in its location and is about 4x4'. My Dublin Bay plant is not grown on a support and it is about as wide as TG though not as tall. My Golden Celebration plant is about 6x6' I think. TG is bigger than Eden here, taller and wider. I just don't think TG would need a pillar and would overwhelm one. My The Pilgrim plant is so much sprawlier, but a friend's plant of it was about an 8x8' globe shaped thing. I wonder if Danae would be a good yellow for you. The blooms are not 1/4 as beautiful as those Austins, IMO, but they are pretty and the plant is very blackspot resistant. Danae has more flexible canes also. Good vigor but doesn't get as huge here. The color fades quickly though. Buff Beauty is often yellow. Linda

I planted TG last year and I have to say she only had one bloom last year. This year she has lots of blooms on her first flush. She will be having her second flush soon. I love her blooms, fragrance and abundance of blooms but the colour is too soft for my garden. It doesn't stand out at all. It wash out quickly in the hot sun. I just planted Rosarium this spring and mine doesn't seem to grow much. I guess it needs time to get establish. I usually don't worry about first year plants since I know that it takes time to settle and grow. My only concern for first year plants is that they grow strong and survive the first winter. This is always tricky since you never know if the variety is really hardy in your zone.
