I have a Neato. His name is Rocky. This is my second Neato -- the first one gave up the ghost after about a year and a half which was disheartening. I have 2 dogs (one is a fur exploding shepherd mix) and 2 hairy cats. We run ours daily while we dog walk, and I'll say it replaces 80% of the need to vacuum. Maybe my cleaning standards are low, lol. Mine has no wifi and I don't use the scheduling feature; I just push the start button and let him go. The Good: The front corners and the little side brush are effective at getting into corners and running along the baseboards. The dirt hopper is large and it STILL gets filled each time I run it. I got the pet model with a rotating brush and it is very good at getting pet hair on both rugs and hard floors. It sits low to the ground and can get under pretty low clearances The Bad: He does get stuck a fair amount. We live in an old house and have black floor grates for our furnace...these tend to trip him up. He also gets tangled on long rug fringe, but not short fringe. He's temperamental and we have had to reboot him and calibrate the battery a couple of times. Overall, I wish he was less finicky but I can't imagine life without him. House cleaning is my least favorite chore and he makes a world of difference. I expect the robots will keep improving over time, and I fully expect to replace mine with another when this one goes. I'm hoping someone invents a dusting robot too.

^^ No, I do not. Do you have carpet or bare floors? I have tile and wood flooring throughout the entire house with a few throw rugs here and there. I bought these microfiber mops, and the duster pad is the BEST THING EVER for picking up pet hair. It's better than a vacuum. Super-fast to do the whole house, too, even under the furniture. Downside is the pad doesn't pick up debris well, if at all - so if I'm zipping around with the floor duster and see a bit of debris on the floor (mostly in the kitchen) I just bend over and pick it up. We don't wear shoes in the house, this is the number one thing to keep the dirt down to almost nonexistent in the house. Obviously, this won't work for you if you have carpet, but just throwing it out there in case you or anyone reading wants to check the mop out.

I’ve had my Roomba 960 for a year now. I did research them and also watched my sis’s inexpensive Roomba in action randomly cleaning her floor. I love my Roomba so much I am giving one to my daughter for Christmas this year. I thought about getting her a cheap one but she has a big house and a cat so the added features are better for her situation. I threw my back out 18 months ago and vacuuming is now disallowed. My DH has taken over, but like you I try to minimize what I rely on him for. I also like a clean floor. This bot does an excellent job cleaning. I have a mix of hardwood, LVP, tile, and area rugs. Bot handles them all just fine. I have a thick jute rug and flat weaves and it has never had a transition problem. This model keeps track of where it’s been and is thorough. The most I have to do is empty the bin and move it to different floor levels. It needs maintenance a few times a year to keep it cleaning optimally but it’s not difficult. One of the reasons I went with Roomba is that replacement parts are available so hopefully it can last many years. I also believe the brand and model will make a big difference in your cleaning experience. I run mine every 2-3 days. Both times I made my purchases through Bed Bath and Beyond watching for super sales. I got the last one on cyber Monday for over $100 off. I’d be happy to answer any specific questions for you.

I am sorry to say that the eury is being returned. It is a definite fail for us. Pros: VERY quiet, low profile so it fits better under furniture, returns accurately to the base when finished, it doesn’t make annoying sounds like the Neato did, it’s fast, the battery seems very good. Cons: it doesn’t even have enough power to get over a very low threshold from my kitchen to living room (we give it a little boost with our foot and the it goes in a few feet and turns around and goes back into the kitchen. Grrr), it doesn’t have enough power to do the rug well, it’ll zoom right on by a dust bunny and never come back to get it, it has a very small dust bin but it doesn’t need to be emptied as often as it would if it was doing a good job. So, unfortunately, it’s back to the drawing board.
