Interesting State-by-State Comparison

I find this map really fascinating, particularly the "confirmed cases per 100,000 residents" stat (which you can find by hovering over the various states). I wonder if some people would be surprised to find that they have an infection rate significantly higher or lower than other states. NY state for example has nearly 1200 cases per 100,000 residents, whereas other states have just 50-something. It doesn't make sense to me in many cases. VT has a higher rate than I would expect for a small, rural state. I expected Oregon's rate to be higher (given their proximity to WA).
