Exterior design/color/curb appeal assistance requested - please!
Comments (72)The hardest thing about making this sort of a change is actually taking the plunge - my suggestion is if you are not thrilled go ahead and take a chance. I appreciate everyone's comments. I am suprised with such positive remarks considering the pics are really not good examples - it really looks great in person though. Thanks again for everyone's suggestions and comments. Hopefully this post will be helpful to someone else considering making a big change. With that said - I'd like to suggest for the forum that people ALWAYS post their actual colors when they post a picture. I know the lighting, computer screen, etc can make things look different but it is very helpful to see something in action as opposed to on a paint swatch. I would have found it invaluable....See MoreExterior Curb Appeal and Window Design
Comments (12)So, I have a lot of window trim that is rotted and literally crumbling. The windows themselves also look pretty bad (the left two won't close all of the way even though i've tried to relock them). The front of the house just bakes from the sun and our AC bill in the summer is ridiculous despite the fact that we have new HVAC systems and proper attic insulation. So, if i'm going to have to replace a lot of the trim anyway, it seems to make sense to do it all at the same time. Capping the new windows and replacing rotten trim is included in the price. I've run the numbers and it's about the same cost to keep the current number of windows or change to taller/fewer number of windows. I can't figure out which will look better. I would think the tall front doors and windows would look awesome, but I'm afraid I won't know for sure until it's done....See MoreHelp with Exterior Color Scheme, Landscaping & Curb Appeal
Comments (18)Sabrina, thank you. I love the idea of black trim, my husband and I discussed that and it seems like a few others like this idea as well. Sandra, I love the idea of printing out the photo and coloring the area to see what works. Zibbe, you are right, we are less than 2 blocks from Buzz Cafe and close to the Conservatory and the park. Beverly, thank you for all of your ideas and photos. I love the planters and FLW style. I will definitely incorporate a lot of the ideas that you all have shared. I appreciate everyone's feedback and ideas....See MoreNeed to update this 90s exterior and increase the curb appeal! Help!
Comments (8)I don't know the purpose of that arch. It was originally designed that way, and yet nothing goes there. There is an inset shower window but up under there, so maybe the thought was to hide it from the curb. But, I had not considered actually putting something there - a fountain or something sculptural would be quite lovely there. And, I am thinking about a single door with sidelights too. I was just looking a pictures of a house with a wood and glass door, and maybe doing wood on the garage to complement it, though not sure about adding wood to the facade....See MoreElizabeth Minish Design
