Middle Price Range Double Wall Ovens
Comments (21)When I was looking at my oven cabinet today - I noticed something. The oven cabinet is a deep cabinet. With a shallow cabinet on top (flush with the front of the oven cabinet - but there's a space behind it). So - basically - the hot air from the oven can go straight out of the oven cabinet up into the kitchen. Perhaps this prevents heat-buildup in the oven cabinet which can lead to other problems. steff1 - were you getting parts under the original manufacturer's 1 year warranty? Frankly - I don't understand why any appliance shouldn't work for a year without needing service. Although apparently a lot of them don't these days . With regard to self-cleaning oven racks in the oven - I've done it for years. Yes - they won't shine after they're cleaned - but they'll be clean - and perfectly functional (except for those new full extension racks that have plastic glides and the like - they shouldn't be self-cleaned - parts will melt - I'll probably remove them and put them in the closet). Last thing in the world I want to do is spend my time cleaning oven racks - or any tedious cleaning I can avoid. I love my cook top - because I can scrape off all the cooked on gunk with a razor blade. Apply a little cook top polish - good as new. I like to cook :) - don't like to clean :(. BTW - my choices were somewhat limited because I wanted a white oven (e.g., no Monogram available in white). I have a "white on white" kitchen - and one stainless appliance would probably stick out like a sore thumb. All the other appliances are working fine. And considering the reliability of new appliances these days - I won't replace my old ones until they're dead (or any needed repairs don't make economic sense). I did buy the KA at Sears today. Delivery in about 3 weeks. Will report back after installation and use. Robyn...See Morechanging refrigerator door handles
Comments (22)I can absolutely sympathize regarding ending up with some appliances handles you don't love. I chose a DW with a beautiful straight handle. Love the performance, love the look. I chose a range and refrigerator for their function, size, and price, but they have the undesirable (to me) bow handles. I wish I could replace them. I'll definitely check out the link that IowaCommute provided. Thanks! I agree that it's harsh to criticize the OP. Sometimes it's not feasible to get every single thing you want within a budget. Just because you purchase an appliance based on function and price does not mean you can't investigate options to improve the aesthetics....See MoreChmney repair contractor upped completed price $300 over estimate
Comments (12)i tend to disagree with all of the above,,,,,,yes he should of told the homeowner beforehand of the change order, outlining who what, where, and why. But really, now,,,, assuming,,, he only needed 5 bricks,,, and the job went real well,,,, is the contractor going to cut his estimate???? Wants protection on the high end,, but not willing to provide for on the other end,,,,now is that fair? And going further,,, a professional not anticipating 60 bricks,,, but predicted 15,, is a major league difference... Did he low ball the job just to get the job,,,,doesnt know what they are doing, how much due diligence did they do when providing the quote???...See MoreHow many cabinet estimates do you get?
Comments (66)A lot of good advice here already. Ikea is a tricky store, we often installed Ikea for our customers in the past years. Good for rental properties, I would not put in my own home. To me, you get as many quotes as it takes you to meet the person who can deliver good design to you. Even though the quality of cabinets is very important, great kitchen is about good layout and great hardware options: drawer-based systems, swivels, hardware that makes hard to reach places accessible. We offer all of the above, so if you wish to check out some of the top of the line hardware options and design, you are welcome to stop by our showroom and meet for a FREE consult with our designers....See Moregardengal48 (PNW Z8/9)
