Need help picking new siding color!

Our house was built in the 80's and the siding has seen better days, plus the color is not our favorite. We would like to start getting ideas of siding colors that will go with a brown roof and brown gutters/trim pieces. We would like to keep the color lighter as we don't have really any shade in our yard and see a lot of sun.

Comments (16)I was actually thinking of painting the shutters white, too, after I saw a picture of a green house with white shutters and it looked very nice. We also were going to close up the gable vents (the roof will have a ridge vent so we shouldn't need the gable vents, and bats like to hang from them and make a mess on the siding). Comments (5)Most of the paint companies have tools where you can upload a photo and then paint it different colors. Why don't you try that? Also, your house would look great in a number of colors. I think you have to narrow it down. Do you want something muted, or bright? Cool tones or warm? Do you like reds or blues or greens or yellows? What is the style of other houses in your neighborhood? Comments (25)If your house is well insulated, the darker siding shouldn't affect internal temperature, as nsc6 said. The only way you can assure you won't tire of the house is to use something like HardiPlank that you can paint in 7 to 10 years if you tire of the color. It's quite a bit more expensive than vinyl though. Will you be living here full time or is this a vacation home? If it's a vacation home that you won't be driving up to every day, I think it would be a nice change to have something a bit different than you see driving down your street to your home every day. If it's a weekend and vacation getaway, it should feel special. Honestly, it should feel special even if it's going to be your everyday home. You could leave the brown window trim. Comments (7)I'm biased because I just finished painting my kitchen and hall this color but ... Eider white? It is a little warmer but also so pale you almost think it's white until you see it against white trim and ceiling. It does not read as beige or yellow at all to me. As to the cabinet color ... it all depends on your budget and if you like any of the woods that are available. I chose a stained wood because I like wood grain and wanted something super durable against dings and dents. Maybe see if they have any wood cabinets that are not overly red or warm, it looks like you really like gray so I'm guessing you like cool colors?...See More- PRO
