Right now, its not going to be very easy to locate any herb plants, as the growing season is now in full swing, and seedlings are mostly sold out everywhere. It may be prudent to start searching for herb seeds and start your own from seeds early next spring. Things like chives, basil, and dill are easy to grow from seeds, and can be planted directly in soil outdoors, or started in small pots and the transferred. Cilantro is also easy to grow, but to get a continual supply, you would start seeds about 2-3 weeks apart as once they bolt, they will not produce much in the way of useful leaves. Oregano and mint are also something that can remain outdoors all the time. Rosemary is also one that you still may find right now, but planting outdoors it could survive through winter in your area. I didn't plant a single dill seed outsied, and have it everywhere right now. Thats due to the fact that I let all the rest of the seed heads drop where they may. My dill is the mammouth type and most plants are nearly a foot tall already and have lots of dill weed leaves. I figured I would harvest most of the leaves once they strat to send out the flower/seed heads, and then let them come up where they want to next year too. I have some in my compost, 50 feet away from the rest, and even a few in my front lawn, and all these just came up where a seed landed. The nice thing about starting your own plants from seed, is you have a better selection to choose from, and don't have to settle for a puny plant at a nursery or garden shop, that may have been forced grown and would quickly die once you get it home.

I like John Scheepers on-line for bulbs. Bluestone Perennials is another excellent source for on-line things. But my first choice for plants is a local garden center. Are there any near you? I try to stay away from HD - generally poor quality and often infested with bugs. I'm surprised you had problems with Burpee - they've been around for a long time. What were you trying to grow?

The 5 ft almond colored steel raceway Plugmold made by Wiremold was only $33 or so at HD when I bought the replacement one last fall. It isn't child-resistant (but neither is the rest of my 2007 vintage house - I think that went into NEC effective 2008, but not sure it would apply to plugmolds if they are 55" off the floor under your upper wall cabinets, and over a 2ft counter so kids can't reach? Ask your electrician). I checked, mine is 15A but that is fine for small appliances - again, I would check your KitchenAid mixer and see how much it pulls, if you think you'll be running a large small appliance on the strip then I would have that one put on a separate circuit, even if 15A is OK. Don't want to pop the breaker running the coffeepot, toaster, and microwave all at the same time! I wouldn't plug a microwave into anything less than a 20A circuit, some of them can pull close to 15A all by themselves. If the end will be fairly well hidden and your electrician is neat, he can always cut down the raceway with a hacksaw, you might even be able to buy a 5ft section and make 2 out of it if you buy extra end caps. The wiring is easy, the hardest part of the Wiremold assembly is tapping the cover on - "striking sharply with hell of hand" - OUCH! was tough to do in tight space even with a wooden block, even for someone who had done it before (electrician). The wiring was a bit of a pain - not much room inside, when I installed the first one I took out the first receptacle to have room to work behind it, the electrician did the same with the replacement (I keep a child plug in to remind myself it's not functional). www.wiremold.com I don't know if they'll sell direct, but if you contact them they may be able to tell you where to buy (or order, if you want specific color, they have steel, aluminum, nonmetallic, almond, white, silver/stainless, black, etc.).

I used Scherr's. It's been two years. I'm still delighted. I want to do another kitchen. That's kind of sick, I know. I did want to comment about the assembly process. Each manufacturer uses a different assembly technique. While I can only speak to the Scherr's process, I have to say it is one stout cabinet. They don't use clips as illustrated above. I think they are much more solid that some of the standard custom cabinets I have used in the past. The bottom line is each company stands on their own merits. I like Scherr's because of the quality of the product, they are manufactured in North Dakota and the outstanding customer service. If you have a problem, you get a real person to help solve it. I have read numerous posts that indicated Barker's produces a good product. Their customer service is involves a lot of email. I like the telephone method myself. Conestoga is another domestic manufacturer of RTA frameless cabinets. With these companies, you can be assured the materials meet acceptable health standards, too.
