How should I hang the curtain rod in DS/Guest room?
Comments (8)Agree with the others about the curtains, so it's unanimous! Do not care for the lamps on the nightstands. They look like desk lamps and unless they have VERY heavy bases they look like they would be pulled off the tables if they were moved around very much. Do you have to have matching lamps? I know it is the usual thing, but it isn't really necessary. Love the wall color and looking forward to seeing the curtains in situ....See MoreShould I hang curtains?
Comments (32)how about panels on the end of each slider? drapes soften rooms, negating hard edges. an interesting rod placed high below the crown molding, say... white wood or black iron spanning the width of the slider ( enough bulk to counter the stone) but only hung on the out side edge of the slider, drapes in a quiet print, perhaps picking up other colors of adjoining rooms. not serviceable for sure, but may add some interest. your room is beautiful!...See MoreHow high above window should I hang curtain rod?
Comments (2)Well will the curtains be custom or readymade? That might help you decide. While some like a rod under the ceiling, I'm not a fan of seeing all that wall space between the top of the window and the rod. So, there is no correct answer, it's a matter of preference or necessity. It should be at least 4" above the window/molding if possible and can go all the way up to the ceiling, or anywhere in between....See MoreShould I hang my curtain rod close to ceiling?
Comments (8)@Jan Moyer We are building a guest house with 10’ ceilings and i am planning to install outside mount woven shades and sheers as in your mockup photo. I have 2 more days to do any additional blocking for shades and curtain rods. see photo i planned to hang rods about 9” from ceiling in case we later add crown moulding Question 1: is this height ok? 2. Is this enough blocking? or need more? 3. For nearby kitchen and mudroom windows, should they also be outside mounted to provide the most light ? or since they wont have sheers, should they be inside mounted? thanks!...See Moreshadylady2u
