I find it interesting that in an earlier comment it was mentioned that the slabs are stored outside. However immediately below is an answer from QM about whether their quartz can be used outside. I don't believe 93% quartz and 7% resin is the amount used in Breton technology. When I spoke to another company which makes quartz in China, I was told that they use the Samsung method and that it is not heated to the high degree that the Breton technology uses. I chose not to purchase the quartz made in China. Can Quartz Master be used outdoors? Please note that outdoor use of our products is not covered by our Lifetime Warranty. Quartz Master’s products have not been tested under prolonged exposure to UV rays. Unfortunately, installing our products outdoors will render our Lifetime Warranty null and void.

jdknyc, this may be too late to help you, but I'll post it anyway in case you are still looking or someone else wants a darker BS to use with white quartzite. My designer recently recommended Nine Lives from the Crossville Color by Numbers collection. It is a medium-dark gray with bluish tones, and the sample we have really worked with the dark vein colors in the slabs we held it up to. I am not sure if we will use it since I pictured a lighter BS next to our walnut uppers. I think the Nine Lives would look great with your white cabinets and white quartzite. It costs under $4 sq ft (at least with my designer's discount). Here is a link that might be useful: 9 Lives

"Just to correct a statement made above, a quartzite absolutely can and will stain if not properly sealed." if a quartzite is staining or etching, then you don't have a true quartzite. What you have is a stone that's mixed w/calcite or something else. And, if you have a mixture, then you don't have a true quartzite slab. it's really that simple. stone yards mislabel slabs all the time. HU7147,,, take a small piece of a cutting leftover and drop some lemon juice and tomato sauce on it. check back in 5-10 mins. did it etch or stain? then it's not quartzite. try another test. take a piece of sharp glass and try to scratch the leftover piece using the sharp end of the glass (like a thick glass tile shard) does it scratch the surface? not quartzite. does it leave no mark and turn the glass to powder? quartzite (or granite) Glass will not scratch either of those. Marble is softer than glass so it will leave a mark.

In my area, $79 a sq foot is on the very lowest side of what I see in Atlanta (that requires going outside the city a bit - nowhere inside the metro area has prices that low, I don't think anyway). Perhaps b/c you are getting such a small amount and it is coming from a remnant? I agree with other poster's comments though - pick one or the other; don't mix. It will look like you didn't have enough money to put the quartzite everywhere. If you want to mix and match something, have the cabinets in the island be a different color, or wood and the perimeter white or cream (not sure what you are going for so just throwing out ideas).
