NEW: obf june vacation swap
Comments (133)Sue----that was wonderful...great job. Hope you have tons of blooms next year. I also went on a fabulous vacation thanks to Annette. Hi Shirley and Family, Pack your bags for your vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC. You will be staying at the Myrtle Beach Resort condos (2 bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, queen sleeper sofa and balcony facing the beach.) ROSE CHAMPION will be at the desk to check you in for your week vacation. AMBER MIST (coneflower) will be available for anything you need in your condo. The Resort is beautifully landscaped with lots of daylilies, HEADY WINE, SMALL GESTURE, LUCKY DRAW (which has a very big red eye) and WATCHYL LAVENDER BLUE, planted in lots of beds. One shade bed had TOAD LILIES blooming, even though they are small they make a statement. One bed was full of COLUMBINES blooming in all colors. Enclosing a Grand Strand coupons and map of Myrtle Beach. Also a magnet for your refrigerator to remind you of this trip. Also a keychain with sand from beach on inside. Myrtle Beach guide with coupons inside as there are lots to do at the beach. Many places to eat, lots of golf courses, great shopping, water sports, flea markets and theaters for entertainment. Have a great time at the beach, "Sun Fun City" Thanks so much Annettee it seemed like I was right there. I love all my plants and it's always fun to vacation at the Beach. Comments (17)Hi Folks, Well it went from 90 and humid to 50 gray and windy.... wont be needing the AC today! This is my long weekend off so I hope the sun comes out in moderation. Ive been reading about the Four corners diet, used to be called Go -diet. Its basically a lower carb diet that supports eatting more mono fats and 25 grams of fiber a day along with foods that they consider to have exceptional value like kefir, yougurt and buttermilk. Im not sure what kefir is but it sounds creepy! Anyhow, the more I read about it the less realistic it sounds, its suppose to be a way to eat for the rest of your life, and not just a diet. However they limit you to 50 grams of carbs but you can eat as many calories as you want! as long as they come from veggies and lean meats and more veggies. Im not sure about the rest of you, but if I could Live on only lean meats and 5 or 6 servings of veggies a day, I wouldnt Need a "way of eatting". Maybe I just need to deal with the fact that as a diabetic my body just cant handle food like pasta, rice and bread, but it sure seems a crappy way to live. The other problem I have is that good carbs like whole grains and brown rice and so on, are filling foods for the caloric punch. With them Ive been eatting around 1800 calories a day. The low carb diets say I can eat up to 2200 or more a day. Calories are calories to me, and the only way to lose is to burn off more than you eat, least I thought.. However they say that this way of eatting helps keep blood sugars stable and gears your body up to burn stored fat. Im going to give this a shot for a couple weeks and see how it goes, atleast its summer and good veggies are abundant and local. I think part of me is just mad and stubborn that I cant just eat what I want anymore, I could deal with the fact that poor eatting habbits were just keeping my weight up, but now its about my health and if I dont drop the extra pounds kidney and heart troubles are in my near future. OK thats enough blubbering from me, no pun intended. Amazing that its already half way through June! time flies when your having fun, and here in NH the flies are black and have big teeth! Any vacation sounds lovely to me, but the budget simply wont allow it this summer, other than day trips in the kayak and maybe a couple camping weekends. I can cash in vaca time at the end of the year so Ive been saving mine to do so, I really want to pay off that last credit card and get into a condo or house next year, I want a decent size kitchen and a place of my own to work on. Has anyone been watching Trading spaces lately? Since they fired Page Davis, ive been on strike and refuse to watch the show, just wondering how they are doing without her. It hasnt been easy without my weekley dose of that bundle of perk in a half shirt :( Well time to wrap up things at work and call it a day. I hope you all are staying as cool as possible. Grab a sweater NHSuz, you wanted cooler weather......See MoreNext summer vacation planning ideas please! Cornwall?
Comments (41)Thanks J, I will pick up a copy of that book. In the meantimeâ¦I got into a slight panic when trying to book rooms for the whole trip. It seems nearly everything in Scotland, Wales and the Cornwall areas I wanted to go are almost 80% booked all ready. I had to make a decision on the Scotland stay so picked Kirkcudbright. Although everything but a small B&B showed sold out I decided to email the Selkirk Arms directly and was lucky to get a small suite room. We will be there for three nights so your book recommendation will help with the day trips from there. My husband is happy because his breakfast is included and there is a bar lol. It should be fun getting info on his surname that could possibly be a link to his linage in the areas between and around Drummore, Kircudbright and later mirgration⦠Dumfries. I will spend some time on Ancestry dot com before for more clues....See MorePlanning vacation to ID and MT...advice welcome!
Comments (13)I have only been on this forum today for a question- was unaware it was so diverse! Love all the fun pics and of course scenery! I underdtand you are going to visit Montana. Good choice. I just left Cody Wy recently to Florida due to an injury. Miss it terribly! Also worked at Crow Hospital (RN) when working for Federal Gov't Bureau of Indian Affairs. Little Big Horn is 2 miles south of the hospital. Billings is 45 minutes north. If you go in summer it may be 90 plus degrees at 6,000 feet but the Sun highway will find you with 10 feet of snow along the road. Evenings/nights can be 'cold'. Bring some warm clothes. Same with Top of The World which is between Red Lodge and Cody. Billings is just any ole' town. Nothing special at all. Depending how glamorous you want your lodging to be or if average yet clean is ok you should be fine in most of Montana but closer you are to Yellowstone (any entrance) you will need reservations unless you go after Labor Day-if traveling in an RV you must have reservations- many places in and out of the park are booked a year in advance. Kiss the ground for me please! The biggest bat cave in the world is just north of San Antonio Tx. (Lived there also in winter.) Best season for watching bats is springtime until month of September. Take a small jar of Vicks to put a SMALL dab under your nose if the smell makes you gag. Or a hankerchief damp with Listerine to hold against your nose. Much type of rock layers to look at in that area also but nothing like the Rockies. If you love nature you will love Montana/Wyoming! AND.... do NOT try to get close up pictures of large wildlife. Be prepared if hiking. Be prepared when the large animals are seemingly quiet as your houdecat on a sofa- they can have 'attitude' and sre amazingly fast. These animals, particularly Grizzly (brown bear) elk, moose and bison can and have seriously hurt foolish people. You are in their home, not a zoo. Take lots of pictures. You truly are in God's country....See MoreRNmomof2 zone 5
