Comments (17)The only symptom she has is a high ammonia smell in the litter box. Her urine never smelled so potent before. She hasn't been tinkling in the house or exhibited any unusual behaviors. But then I noticed she was going outside (in her pen) so just wanted peace of mind that she was healthy and not peeing too frequently. Other than that, the Health Meter cat litter turned green, too (should stay yellow). The package doesn't say what green means... I can't believe the first vet gave me all of that incorrect information and was trying to put my cat through dietary changes that weren't in her best interest. I don't believe her second opinion vet thinks she's going to have problems. The only thing that stood out for him was the USG levels. He said that there was an at-home treatment for hydrating a cat but didn't even feel it was necessary at this point. He said she was okay to stay on the Prairie food (I don't really have any easy options) but canned would get more fluids in her system. That is all that we are doing right now. I was going to fill up her pool this weekend to see if she'll play in it and drink some extra water, too. I would like to do some more research on food and see if she can eat something even better than the Prairie. The foods cause immediate diarrhea so I need to wait on that. Right now she appears to be battling the darn herpes virus again from the stress of going to the vets. So, I'm really trying to get as much canned in her as possible because that's how I can get the Lysine into her. It took me months to get her respiratory problems resolved, I thought she was home free....See MoreBengal Cat pee-ing in my bed

Comments (11)Kittens, I was just looking over the list provided in nhardy's post. I didn't see your post until now. Believe it or not, I was investigating Nature's Variety Lamb Instinct Raw Frozen Diet, then came to make this post when I saw your post. I can get Nature's Variety, but only the frozen variety at a store 2 miles from my house. However, I have no idea if some of the ingredients will agree with Sebastian. Here's a list of the ingredients: Lamb, Lamb Liver, Raw Ground Lamb Bone, Lamb Heart, Lamb Kidney, Apples, Carrots, Butternut Squash, Ground Flaxseeds, Montmorillonite Clay, Chicken Eggs, Broccoli, Lettuce, Spinach, Dried Kelp, Apple Cider Vinegar, Parsley, Honey, Salmon Oil, Olive Oil, Blueberries, Alfalfa Sprouts, Persimmons, Duck Eggs, Pheasant Eggs, Quail Eggs, Inulin, Rosemary, Sage, Clove. Any red flags in that long list? The other kitty, Hibachi, probably has IBS also. I didn't take Hibachi to the vet because he is much healthier. I'll take him in the near future. Hopefully, whatever helps Sebastian will also help Hibachi. I don't think the vet did a tri-trich test. But since I don't know what that is, who knows....See MoreIs anyone contemplating a cat adoption soon?
Comments (3)I love my Bengals. I never had a particular breed of cat before. Some of them are much prettier than others. Once you have one though, I have to say you forget about how they look and fall in love with their personalities. My mom lost our family cat over the summer (age and kidneys). We were thinking about doing a Bengal rescue for her once she was ready. A friend of ours (who's allergic to cats) had started feeding a stray/feral at her work for about a year. It took her that long to catch her and get her into her office. Well, she ended up becoming the 'office cat' for the past 3 months. She was very lonely on weekends and evenings but the office was better than a shelter. She was a long haired cat (not my preference). But I went over to meet her just the same. I hadn't expected to see such a beautiful, cute cat. And her personality was to die for. So, mom has adopted her. It turns out she is a Maine Coon cat! I recognized it in her immediately. I was just reading about the breed last night. They are surprisingly similar to the Bengal cat. I can't believe we ended up with another 'crazy personality' cat! That's what I wanted for her to take her mind off her loss. I will get a picture posted of her when I get the camera up and running. I never really thought about purebred cats before. It was interesting when I started watching the Animal Planet cat specials. If you want a particular type of personality or look, selecting a purebred is a nice way to try to match what you are looking for. All of my cats have been 'mutts' and their personalities have been a mystery until they grow. In the meantime, have a closer look at "Uno" in Florida :)! He's got a 'pelt' to die for! And I say pelt because the Bengal has a unique type of fur, they feel very silky. If you ever get a chance to pet one you'll see what I mean. He's one big cat, too! I think he's sitting in a dog bed, lol! Here is a link that might be useful: Who's going to take me home?...See MoreLadydi Zone 6A NW BC Canada
