I just started using Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for the bath. Worked like a charm. No more nasty scrubbing bubbles for me. Also, don't wait long in between cleanings. It's so much easier to keep on top of it.

Richard Dollard be careful! magic erasers are basically like a super fine grit sandpaper. for example, they will dull glossy car paint. I'd be kind of scared to use them on an acrylic tub.

graywings123 interesting. in the past I've used scrubbing bubbles (the kind in a spray can) and it worked well. but I actually avoid any products that come in packages you can't recycle. unfortunately the scrubbing bubbles in a plastic bottle is just not the same (and of course we're learning that nobody is really recycling plastic anyway). I suppose there's something extra to the foaming nature of spray can cleaners!

I use a mix of dawn and vinegar on my acrylic tub and barely have to scrub it.

I think the first vinegar recipe I used required me to water it down. so I'll try the strong vinegar + dawn method! I was reading in a blog that if you spray it once a week as maintenance, you don't even need to scrub. here's hoping.

The last batch of Scubbing Bubbles that I purchased at my local BJ's was a dud. I don't know what happened but it basically did nothing.

Just tried the Dawn/Vinegar and it truly did work like a charm. Appreciate the suggestion! Vinegar and water did NOT remove the scum.

Richard Dollard, do a search for all the problems, people have had with magic erasers. Wrecked car paint, wrecked kitchen cabinets, wrecked bath fixtures, and many other things. Yes there are things the eraser works good on, but, they are like sand paper, and they can remove the finish.

Did you manage with the Dawn and vinegar, @User? My successful cleaning recipe for my dirty (regular dirt, not soap scum, mind you) acrylic shower pan ended up being baking soda and Dawn. I spread both on the surface, cover with microfiber cloths and pour hot water on it all (I fill the kettle) and wipe off after 30 minutes or so. The dirt wipes off with no effort. Been keeping it up since with just Dawn & water with a microfiber cloth weekly.

Recently succeeded in removing tenacious soap scum from my old tile using Barkeepers' Friend and a Cosabella scrubby sponge. The Scotch-brite non scratching pads seem terribly ineffective for me regardless of the cleaner I use with them so won't repurchase. (Would read the BKF label carefully before trying it on an acrylic tub though.)
