Remodeling Design Dilemma Exterior

White or black Pella windows?

I'm remodeling my home and doing all new Pella casement windows with grills throughout. Should I stick with traditional white exterior windows or should I do black exterior windows/grills which would provide a nice, on trend contrast with the painted white brick? The shutters will either be removed or painted black.

I think the black would be nice but I wouldn't get grilles

Are you getting grills on the Chicago window? I would stay with white. You have a lot options for shutter color. Actually I would take the ones off the large picture window.

We went with the black. I thought our front door was original but on closer inspection its a veneer over particleboard. I really like the 3 windows over 2 or 3 panel windows, maybe in a black finish on exterior. I'd like to strip the paint on the front stairs, maybe. Or yes, paint them something else. The blue must go. Thanks for your thoughts, all. They were very helpful. I think we always kinda liked the idea of black even though we traditionally liked white. We were afraid it'd look bad or be too risky. Obviously some think so, and I guess it could, but we decided to go for it! I think it's the right choice. do you have window coverings? And do you love them? What brand did you go with? House looks great. I read the link someone posted and brought up the black interior and decorating. I was thinking of just doing all black in the living areas and black out with white inside in the sleeping areas. Thanks for the quick response! :) Would love to see more pics of your house. I was thinking of doing the same thing. Painting my interior sliding door back in the dining room with light oak floring with white windows in the kitchen. No grills and it depends on the look you want from the house what color to choose. None of those shutters work and you need more than new windows and why did you paint the brick?

I bought the house recently--the previous owner painted the brick and added the shutters. I'm doing an overall update to bring it up to date and am going back on forth with white vs. black windows. I'm afraid to make a mistake because it's a big investment. I'm leaning toward black because I think it's more current and interesting but feel white is the 'safer' option. Pella because I've used Pella in 2 previous homes and was happy with the performance. Also, it fits my budget. Thank you.

IMO if you are going to use grilles, then all the windows should be double hung.

I love black windows, and agree that they should not have grilles.
