I got it for Gardener's World, but there really is a lot to watch. I think you can do a free seven day trial before you commit.

maddiemo I like British comedies and a lot of their documentaries. I also like a lot of their reality type shows. I wouldn't say like the trash tv types but the hoarding ones, dieting ones, etc.

GardenGal I agree their shows are so much more interesting. :)

I love my BritBox! I watch a little of everything they offer but especially their history and documentaries.

I just had a look at a list of what’s on Britbox and I’ve watched all of these and enjoyed them.

Gavin and Stacey (James Corbin is in it) very popular.

The Office (Ricky Gervais)

Absolutely Fabulous.

Fawlty Towers (John Cleese is the main character) Iconic classic Brit comedy

Only Fools and Horses. It grows on you and you become very fond of the characters.

Blackadder. I loved it but it’s a bit like Marmite (you either love it or hate it)

Mum (gentle comedy)

Life On Mars. This is crime detective series, but it’s funny too. It sounds a weird concept (the time travel part of it) but I loved it.

Not on BritBox but I just started watching the show Line of Duty? Showcase is starting the show from the beginning. Is it there?

And I came across another show which I'm going to start watching which is Shakespeare and Hathaway. Is it there?

I was going to ask the same question as the OP since Britbox was brought up on another post a couple of days ago. Except for someone saying that the interface wasn't as easy as Netflix (picking up where you left off in a show?) it sounds great. I love a lot of the British shows that have played on Netflix, and some have migrated to BB plus there are more. I'm really looking for some new things I haven't watched yet. Sounds like this will be a good solution. And hopefully (says a little prayer) things will get better before I've watched the them all!

Owww yes, Happy Valley didn’t show up on the list I looked at, but if it is on Britbox, I’d highly recommended it. I know it’s on Netflix.

I am a big Mr Bean fan but already have the set and it's available on Prime. Absolutely Fabulous is also on Prime. My mom sent me a clip from a show called Mrs. Brown's Boys. It was hilarious. While looking it up I saw things about BritBox.

blfenton, Shakespeare and Hathaway is on Britbox but Line of Duty is on Acorn. Happy Valley used to be on Britbox but was cycled off a few months ago (last fall?).

Between Britbox and Acorn TV, I've got UK TV programming nailed :-)

Because we're SO OLD and have been retired SO LONG...there is almost nothing on BritBox that we haven't seen AGES ago -- especially since this material is the sort of thing we have always preferred over most US programing. (I'm trying to think of some of the first comedies we discovered all those years ago, but can only come up with "The Two Ronnies".)

There are a lot of shows on Britbox (and Acorn) that have never appeared on US TV...not even on PBS channels. So I am surprised at remarks like the above.....where did you see all these shows if not on a streaming service?

There was a British comedy Vicious with Ian McKellan and Derek Jacobi which was hilarious. It finished in 2016. IF it can be found it's worth watching.

gardengal -- Our library has a ton of DVD's. We also used to find a lot of British shows on A&E. I just asked DH about the Ronnies, and we can't remember how we found that. We might have seen it while we were in the UK on a vacation, then sought it out here at home. (Gosh, I see it is vintage 1971, but I don't think we saw it then.)

Hareball, the actor that plays Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson) also plays Blackadder.

Very different kind of comedy, but just thought I’d mention it.

Different tastes but the humor in Blackadder or Mr. Bean escapes me....just silly slapstick, IMO. In fact, I have only enjoyed Rowan Atkinson in more serious shows. His version of the classic 'Maigret' is excellent!!

btw, the appeal of Dr. Who escapes me as well :-))
