Show us your space , what does your son’s room have to do with yours, your son’s room looks like a dorm room is that what you want?

To start with ....show us the whole new room...empty if possible...and as much of the room in “one” of the photos as possible ...then show us the things you have that you want to use...mention if you are prepared to buy any new furniture pieces....lastly a simple floor plan showing floor size..and locations of doorways and windows..including where the doorways lead to.. also share about how you want it to look or feel

A room can be cozy without being dark. Focus on finding pieces that are made the way you want. Actually seeing the furnishings will make it easier to make a decision.

If you want to cover more tile, go with a larger rug.

Could you please post a to scale floor plan of the space and also where the closet is , and all the windows clearly mark all the measurements too. BTW I do not have an attitude but if you want help you need to share some things to get answers. I actually thought the picture was of your son’s room not yours. None of your ideas pictures are any of those styles and IMO scandnavian and boho are two very different styles and honestly do not work together. Maybe add some pictures to your idea book of bedrooms you love ,to me naming your style is often not a good idea. Rooms need to done how they function and with things you love don’t worry so much about a specific style.

Disagree with this. Scandi mixed with boho is definitely a thing, including in Scandinavia, and when done well work great together. It’s so bizarre to see a “pro” designer not understand mixing styles! And it’s very helpful to hear names of various styles someone likes, how else would we know what to suggest? I’ve seen you refer to your own home as contemporary, right? I’m not trying to be rude, I swear, just baffled by the above quotes coming from someone who does this for a living! I remember another poster doing a boho living room and you posted you don’t like or understand that aesthetic, you never take on jobs like that. Then why post on the threads looking for advice about it ... again, baffling.

Good luck, OP. It’s a nice, roomy space and if you haven’t already, google Scandinavian Boho ... lots of great articles and inspiration pictures. Hopefully, it’ll help in finding a starting point. :)

ETA: Regarding rugs ... two rugs sound like a good plan, since its a common thing to layer rugs in boho designs, and you don’t like tile.

A few bedroom pics that might give some inspiration. My preference would be lighter furniture and bringing in textiles and textures for the cozy factor.

Also thanks for being patient and delicate, it's hard to explain what someone is looking for when they're not in the industry. For example, I shoot weddings and when my brides try to explain what they want, it is usually counterintuitive so I have to help clarify. I appreciate y'all doing that for me!
I do love the look of the lighter furniture, thank you. I'll post a few inspirations below as well to see if you guys can help me pull from them and maybe identify what style it is so I can search more clearly? Thanks again!
