Why their non-stop cough, is it the covid-19 or garlic?

I hope y'all don't mind my taking responses "off-the-air" so to speak, since all i really wanted is feedback based on experience, which i couldn't find online.

I've learned in life that there's such a thing as "decoys" which can fool people into thinking that "for sure it's xxx when it's really yyy". Which brings me to the point. I spoke on the phone with 2 people who have coronavirus. Both of them have used garlic-water as one of their treatments. While they were talking, both of them had this non-stop, dry cough every second.

So i'm wondering if that may have been more due to garlic allergy, than to the covid-19? Nobody ever brings up that possibility. In fact one of them had been complaining of both nausea, and drops in blood pressure, which is listed among garlic-allergy symptoms. (See https://allergysymptomsx.com/garlic-allergy.php

I researched YouTube for over an hour, and could barely find representative audio's demonstrating what a CV cough sounds like. I only found one, and that was less constant (in fact it was more phlegmy sounding).

So what proof is there that the ones who are severely sick, aren't suffering autoimmune reactions to extreme stuff such as garlic, especially since they may combine it with ginger & "C"? (The truth is, that black-cherry has been proven more effective as anti-inflammatory than "C" and it's also not so acidic.) My point is, I think they're worsening themselves, while fooling themselves that the extreme stuff is helping! BTW, the aforesaid guy had tried hydroxychloroquine but was allergic to it, and can't take azithromycin due to heart condition. At this time he's on oxygen which makes him feel better, but i think he should be trying H2O2+saline in a nebulizer, as per Dr.Shallenberger's protocol. In my opinion, a moist-form such as nebulizer is safer than dry oxygen. The problem is, that he only follows what his doctor tells him.

If they've been diagnosed with covid (with a test) then they are probably smart to listen to their doctors. Well, regardless, they're probably smart to rely on their drs advice rather than some internet hacks.

IMHO Natural remedies work for some people. Is this placebo or actually relief? I also think it is important to know these remedies are soothing the SYMPTOMS of the disease--not affecting the actual virus. That is always true. Different bodies react differently to medications and these natural treatments. I would think it logical that the friends you spoke of know if they are adversely affected by garlic. If they feel the garlic works FOR THEM that's fine with me. Will it work for you? Only you will know that. One of the always listed symptoms of COVID-19 is a dry relentless cough. For me if I were to get it I would immediately be on something with guaifenesin. I know that chemical works for me.

I'm the OP of this thread, which was posted almost a week ago. I just saw this article, which I guess answers my thread headline question. It appears that no current American presence in active conflicts overseas, are being curtailed, but rather that military troops will be taking the best measures they can, to avoid becoming exposed to the Covid-19. My opening paragraph for this thread, referenced how the ongoing fighting in World War I, allowed the Spanish Flu to spread among the soldiers, who lived and fought in close quarters, for 10 months, before the war finally ended. Then the soldiers who had been exposed, but didn't die, returned home, unknowingly spreading the virus further, throughout America. So in learning that American military personnel in conflicts abroad, will remain on active duty there, I give my sincere hope that all of those men and women who may be fighting two battles at the same time, one visually apparent and the other invisible, will return home eventually, safe and healthy. My heart goes out to them all, especially the 13,000 troops serving in Afghanistan, as it is shares a border with Iran, where Covid-19 is so prevalent. I have a mask story to add (not a rant , since none of my loved ones were endangered). A few weeks ago, I ran into an old friend. She lives, and works, in the small village where I grocery shop, and we were both there during designated senior hours. She recognized me, although I was wearing a mask, but she wasn't wearing one. I asked if she had a mask, and she said that she had only one, disposable, which she was saving for the days she had to take her father to his medical appointments. I asked if she'd like me to make her a fabric mask, and she graciously accepted. I dropped it off to her the same day, with some shop towel filters, as I was on my way to drop off my father's groceries. Today, as I was leaving the grocery store, she was arriving--sans mask. I jokingly asked why she wasn't wearing her mask, and she said that she didn't think she needed it unless she was in close quarters with others. When I pointed out that by wearing a mask she was protecting others, she responded that she didn't need it because she's "been good." I'm disappointed that I gave her one of my nice, 600TC Egyptian cotton face masks, and she doesn't wear it. :[ At least she has it if she changes her mind.

Alternative Reality, denialist thinking still much in evidence - and not just on this forum. On the way to the bank I had to pee so I ducked into the green grocery I like. Shoppers everywhere (as in too many to maintain adequate distance) even though they had a roped entrance with an employee sitting there, supposedly limiting and regulating the number of people in the store at any one time. After hitting the restroom thought I would grab a few items while I was there. Nope, checking the deli section I saw a tallish man leaning on the bussing station looking at his phone with his mask off his nose - this put him in a position where he was exhaling out into the main walkway through that part of the store. And so on - I soon fled without doing any shopping. Walking back to my car I saw three people standing and talking at close quarters not far from where people coming from all over the lot converged to enter the store. No sign of masks on the talkers, I got the impression they might not have been wearing them the whole time since the pandemic started - there actually are people around that still refuse to wear them at any time. And the body language of these three projected an attendant attitude, as though they had gone there intending to walk in without masks only to encounter the mask required signage and the woman in the chair.

Arkansas Girl, weeks later? Do you remember where you heard that? When I experienced some fatigue four days after my second shot I looked up delayed reaction, and the only thing I found was a reference to four or five days, especially for those who reacted with a rash. In my case it would have been about two weeks, and then the reaction lasting over a week. That seems unlikely, but thanks for the thought. Debby, it started about two weeks after the second shot but it's still going on a week later.

Haven't these people been eating garlic all of their lives? I would presume that they know whether or not they have a garlic allergy. All of their symptoms point to the documented symptoms of CV.

FYI regarding moisture. Years ago I was in the hospital with the flu. I had double pneumonia. I finally felt well enough to take a shower. The nurse got the shower ready for me, all nice and hot and steamy. I walked into the room and immediately had a massive asthma attack. Sometimes moisture is not what's needed.

I think you need to stop playing doctor and just be a friend who can offer some caring support. No offense intended, I’m sure your heart is in the right place, but your post is a really good example as to why normal every day people should not be offering medical advise, especially now.

Just to bring the point home, this article is about what happened when someone else who knows a lot less than he should about almost everything, gave his two cents about Covid-19.

How dumb do you have to be to take aquarium cleaner, for a disease that you don't have, in hopes that you won't get the disease ? That poor woman will now have to live with having caused her husband's death for the rest of her life. Please don't blame the President for that woman, and her husband's stupidity. I will agree that he shouldn't have mentioned the name of the drug, even though it wasn't the same as what this woman and her husband took. The information the President gave was not something he came up with himself, it was information given to him by someone else, perhaps Dr. Fauci.

I think we all need to try to work together, and support each other right now. Throwing blame around like confetti, and repeating untruths and half truths from the media helps no one.

Inhaled particles, including water droplets, can indeed cause asthma. Inhaled cold air, rather than warm air, is known to cause asthma as well.

Asthma is an effect caused by all sorts of things. Most people have inflammation in their lungs and that inflammation makes their lungs twitchy so some trigger, and that is usually very personal, causes the vasoconstriction that not only keeps you from getting air in but also keeps you from getting air out. Triggers can be allergy inducing particles or just any old particle, cold air (very common) hot air and so on. For many people set it off. You can get Asthma from chemical irritants, perfumes are common causes, or poisons, for me mentholated cigarette smoke is a trigger. Those of us with Asthma are at risk with Covid-19 of course. It is a strange that it is not a disease though that is how it is treated. It is a symptom. I can get sneezing attacks from the hot moist air of a shower. I guess I am lucky it would ease asthma for me.

Covid 19 can cause sudden massive lung inflammation (ARDS) in some people and have massive out of control asthma. It is frequently fatal.

My dr. told me to use zinc and mucinex if you get a cough which I had, the mucinex thins the phlegm and the zinc is good for your immune system.

Mucinex D expectorant and cough suppressant has always been my go-to. Will have to check out that zinc.

Really? If you're not going to follow your doctor's advice, why waste your time going? And...did the doctor really prescribe garlic water?

I think he'd be wiser following his doctor's advice ... than the hot air offered by the likes of ... me, or others like me, sporting łimited medical knowledge.
