Laundry Room Organizing the Home

Laundry room, Pantry and Mudroom combo

I've got a space that comes in from the garage that's about about 11'2 x 8'6 that goes into the kitchen. I can't figure out how to configure the space so that its efficient as a laundry room, pantry and mudroom.

For the laundry area, I'd like to have a washer, dryer, sink and some sort of drying solution for hand washed clothing.

For the pantry area, I'd like it to be big enough to store all my food as well as a little island if possible.

For the mudroom area, I'd like there to be some hooks for jackets and cubbies for shoes, maybe a small closet if possible.

I'm attaching a picture for reference. The dimensions are 11'2 horizontal and 8'6 vertical. The door leading into the kitchen is a pocket door and the door coming in from the garage opens into the space.

How many people will be passing through? Kids? What kind of gear? Boots or flip-flops? Mittens or ball caps? How much food? Costco-sized packs?

Most of the time it will be just 2-3 adults with visits from kids and grandkids. Gear will be winter jackets and boots to flip-flops as we experience all 4 seasons. This will be the only real pantry in the house where extra or large pots/pans are planned to be kept, costco-sized food packs, small appliances, toilet paper, small fridge, etc. Laundry room needs to have air drying solution for clothes as well as a wash basin and even some sort of ironing area. Am I asking too much for the amount of space that I have? lol. :-)

A scale drawing would be helpful. Include all the features like Windows, doors, plumbing. This can be a hand drawing on graph paper. Take a picture of it and post it.

Thanks all for your input. For answers to the questions asked - we will not be stacking...the machines will go on the wall to the left in the print. We've nixed the bi-folds and will have a counter top over the machines and a rod (maybe two) over that for hanging. The door will open to the right, so that you first see the wall shared with the office, not the laundry side. Unfortunately space has already been stolen from the office for head space for the stairs... We chalked some things out and I'm feeling a little better. Just isn't space to make it what you see in the pictures here, haha! But I know we'll love it regardless.

We had this where it even combined a 1/2 bath too all in one long room, a little over 5' wide by 25' long. We put 2 walls up so the pantry only has an entry through the kitchen. The mudroom/laundry are combined and have an exit to the garage and entry to kitchen several feet down from pantry. The 1/2 bath is also on its own now and the entry is around the corner in a hallway, not directly coming from kitchen. I felt like the pantry needed to be its own room, less dust etc.

My laundry/mud room is ~8'x11'. Just so you can see how my stuff fits:

On the left wall I have a small refrigerator with a cabinet above it and a shallow closet (24" wide, 12"deep) where I hide my mops and brooms. Hope that helps!

I don’t think you’ll have enough room for an island with everything on the perimeter taking up space... unless it’s on wheels
