Have Dwarf and TB Iris for.your Iris,Japanese Maples
Comments (4)Hello, I would be interested in a few michael pauls. I have a mixed variety of TB irises. Some are all purple, some are purple (more like wine) and beige and some are yellow. They will be mixed though so I wont be able to ID each specific one. Please send me a PM if your interested. Comments (12)I love Japanese Maples and an Asian garden design so tried really hard to find one that would work here in Central Tx. I was warned that between the high temps and alkaline soils it just wasn't a viable plant for this area. Of course I wouldn't take 'no' for an answer so I stubbornly tried planting them a couple of times, but without any luck. Then I was driving down the road one fall day and passed this beautiful small/med. sized bright red tree with a graceful multiple trunk. Thinking that it might be an adapted Japanese Maple I pulled the car over, turned around and went back to it. Low and behold it was not a Maple at all but a beautiful Flame Leaf Sumac...a native tree. And that's what I've decided to use in place of the Japanese Maple. They have attractive trunks and can be pruned and shaped into wonderful ornamental specimen trees. Their flame red leaves are stunning in the fall. And best of all they aren't fussy. They were right there under my nose the whole time! They can be purchased in nurseries that specialize in natives, but can also be found growing all over the place. Gotta shovel? Comments (25)Sorry sort of miss read your post. I don't know if others will agree and I don't know your weather. Roses are best moved in cool weather but it might cause less damage to maple if their moved now. If your weather is already hot give them some shade after you move them. Hope for Humanity does black spot thats why I no longer grow it. It's a gorgeous rose but you will most likely need to spray to keep it clean. I vote for moving it now. Hope that helped a little bit...See MoreCan you recommend a dwarf Japanese Maple?
Comments (22)Planting top grafted weeping trees and then giving them salad bowl haircuts that defeat the weeping habit that is a lot of the point of planting them in the first place is a common practice not limited to weeping lace-leaf maples. Scalping the trunks of young, conical evergreen plants like hollies and various conifers that often do not have particularly attractive bark also seems to be a favorite form of malpruning. I have seen the amusing term Calgary palm used for Colorado spruces so mishandled in Alberta plantings. https://www.plantamnesty.org/4-dont-s...See Moregardengal48 (PNW Z8/9)
