Comments (7)How funny! I too have a volunteer in one of my perennial beds. Like most of us, I didn't have the heart to tear him out and chose to "see what he does". Welllll, lets just say that "he" is one vigorous pumpkin I must say. My fear is that it is one of the mammoth varieties i had around a year ago for fall display. Right now he looks cool in there, but is quickly wearing out his welcome as he is growing about a foot a day and will soon develope a heavy driking problem as pumpkins are known to do. The fact that i already named Him a "him" means i am too attatched now to pull the plug and must pay the price. We gardeners are a curious bunch to say the least....See MoreBanana Plant Identification
Comments (4)Strelitzia nicolai is one of my favorite big tropicals. It is a cousin of bananas (Musa), thus the similarity of appearance. I like nicolai much better than the much more dwarf S. reginae (orange bird). These want to become BIG plants with enormous leaves and petioles regardless of whether you grow them inside or outside (conditions permitting). Your plant seems very healthy. You can divide them if you want, but I would leave them together (they naturally are clumping and will constantly from side shoots anyway. If you do put it outside, select a site with some shading from direct sun as it probably hasn't seen too much direct sun recently. Alternatively, just get it used to its interior site (it's kind of late in the growing season anyway). I would transplant the plant (the white pot in the photo is about right in size). Use a well-drained soil and let the soil dry somewhat between watering--especially in the Winter....See MoreHow Do You Know What Size or Kind You Need?
Comments (21)I finally found a pillow I like -- at Costco! I don't recall the price, but think it was about $30 for two. (Since it was Costco I knew I could return it.) I'm a back/side sleeper. I've had it for three months. The package says "Charisma Luxury Down Alternative Pillow Two Pack" and "Jumbo 20in X 28in". I think the secret is that it has a gusset edge, so I can 'fluff' it up to give enough support. It's machine washable, although I haven't washed mine yet. The fiberfill is Comforel(TM) Silkysoft(TM). Hah! Now that I'm looking at the tag on the pillow I see it says it is 18" X 26" X 2" -- not exactly what the package advertised, eh? The covering is made in China, but the pillow is filled and finished in USA. Manufacturer is Hollander Home Fashions of Boca Raton, FL. Anyway...I really like it!...See MorePlants identification???
Comments (5)They look like what we have been told are Cranefly Orchid, Crippled Cranefly https://ncwildflower.org/plant_galleries/details/tipularia-discolor Though based on what is in our wooded area it is a little late. (Slope of the Piedmont Plateau east of Raleigh.) As I said we have been told that is what they are, however we have never seen the blooms. and they disapear late in the summer....See Moreperen.all Zone 5a Ontario Canada
