Shorter daybed suggestions?

Hi all! I'm looking for a daybed that can fit into a small window nook in my house. Unfortunately, because they all seem to use 75" twin mattresses, I have been unable to find anything less wide than 76", while the area I need it for is only 74" wide. Are there any daybeds on the market less wide than this? I'm considering using an apartment-size sleeper sofa if I cannot find anything, but I really love the look of a daybed and would appreciate any suggestions!

A twin mattress is 75” long, so all daybeds are going to be at least that size. You’d have to do more of a chaise or pullout sofa. If you get something custom built, and use a memory foam twin mattress, it’ll probably fit snug in the space, but double check first!

A memory foam or gel foam twin mattress can be cut to size with an electric knife.

He said it was okay with him, I looked up day beds for teenage boys and saw where some were black, wood, or pewter, I am thinking of going with pewter. He already has a sports theme in his room, it's just a small room and he is a 6ft tall 13 year old and needs more space.

What is the shape & style of her daybed? You mean a slipcover to go over the back & side rails? For my dd's bed, I got some sofa cushions for the back and rolls for the sides, bought an extra set of sheets that matched her sheets & comforter, and covered the cushions. I think the total cost was about $50, but that was 10 years ago & I also made curtains.

Without pictures, it's impossible to answer. My initial question is why you would want to convert to a daybed. I have a queen bed that I use as a bed and like previous posters, I can't see it functioning well as a couch or chaise which is essentially what a day bed is supposed to do - i.e. be seating during the day and then be used as a bed when needed for sleeping. In my experience, day beds are generally twin size - if a larger sleeping surface is needed, there is the kind of bed which slides out somehow.

That looks great, Sue! We keep the sheets for those beds in the baskets. A couple of tips... we found that cotton jersey (knitted) sheets fit those French mattresses better than a woven cotton. Also, to keep the mattresses from moving buy one of those waffle type rubber rug pads and cut it to fit the top of the base. It will provide enough grip to keep the mattress in place. That is a darling little table btw!

There are baby cribs that convert to daybeds. They're about 53" long.

I need to see wehre it is going. Why a daybed if there is space for a sofa bed? You could just have a custom base made and order a memory foam to fit.
