oh my Gosh I just remembered what I wanted to post about brugseed
Comments (13)Well if it was definately alive I agree with Kristy that it is probably a fungus gnat larvae, though I've never seen one. That is the only thing I can think of. Do you have the little gnats flying around the dirt on your post? I am going crazy with those things, I mixed up some mosquito dunk water to try and kill the larvae and I am going to spray more often to take care of the adults. If you have a problem with them put a peice of mosquito dunk in your water jug to help kill the larvae when you water, and also putting a layer of sand on the soil keeps them from getting in and laying more eggs. Spray raid or something for the adults. I wish I would have bought a bag of sand to have now.....LOL. Oh well I really like my brugs so I will put up with the bugs. Shawn...See Moreoh no, I just discovered my hoya has mealybugs, great, now what??
Comments (3)Hep! it is indeed mealybugs, I took a closer look and I certainly see little bugs, they are powdery white but has small legs, when I wipe with alcohol they become dirt yellow smudge... the hoya is hanging in a small closet with a northern window- my husband just peeked over my shoulder, not east as I said before.. I have other plants in there for winterstorage, my hibiscus looks like it has a bit of 'spiderweb on it- I know it is a pest but do not know what the name is. My irises that was delivered a bit too late to put in the ground last fall is in there too, One of them was filled with small lice. I sprayed it down with the chrystanmentum spray and it seemed like it did the job. I decided To make a fast sweep of the houseplants and realize that the grape ivy too has white clusters (stems , leaves, underleaves) I look at the passiflora and detect a bit of spiderwebbing. I move on to the bedroom and my hibiscus in there is too affected by webs I am afraing to take down my green hoya... ahmm. went and bought isoprpyl at the pharmacist, could only find 71% / 90% I got the lower number and diluted with water. now it's war! any takes on dealing with the buggers in the soil? should I start watering with soap? can I use dishdetergent water? which soaps to avoid??? thanks klk *I don't know what systemic is but do not like the name, sounds like something I do not want in the house...*...See MoreOH MY GOSH !! you're not going to believe what I just did
Comments (16)Okay...the rest of the story... When I stirred it up I was stirring up a double batch... I then poured it into two 9x13 pans... I must have gotten more of the pumpkin mix into one of the pans than the other one... Because the one I took to church (that looked delicious) could not be eaten with a plastic fork...NO WAY...you could not stick the fork in it...I was so embarrassed. Denny leaned over to me and said..." How much were the pans?" I'm thinking "HUH?" He said the cake pans..."Maybe we should just grab the lids and run"......LOL... My grandaughter said..." forget it grandma...it won't help...you've got your name written on the pan..they'll still know it was you that made it!!!"......very funny Kacie But the one at home was great...So I'm assuming there wasn't enough moisture in the other pan...I just picked the wrong pan to take to church. There was a lot left over in the other pan of the Apple stuff I made too...I guess the word passed around..."if it says Patti on the pan....don't eat it !!!" Oh well. "S" At least you couldn't taste the chili powder mistake. patti...See MoreWhen a house you have liked from a far goes on the market oh boy
Comments (26)I think assessments are based on a 1/3 retail value but our last batch was ten years ago. Reassessments are this year and it should increase a bit but it is still over priced, should be 20,000,000 most likely. from our boat as a child I do not remember the roof so orange. When we sail the area now it has been that color though for years. My friends have an island house that was built in the 20s in the same cluster. Their wood work is still stained. I think this was more of a sea captain manse style originally. I always think of the ghost and Mrs Meir when I image the interior of old island houses. I think that this is why when people consider light, airy blue and white interiors as coastal I cringe. I have grown up with an image of water homes being dark and dreamy not light and airy....See More1929Spanish-GW
