Scary Stories & Real Life Mysteries
Comments (44)Sylvia, I have posted this on other forums, so you may have read it before. It isn't exactly a ghost story, just something strange. When we bought this place, we waited a year before moving here, waiting on my daughter to graduate from high school. But we moved the horses here, so every evening, I would drive down here to feed the horses. We had built a work shop and there was a refrigerator in it, and we came down and worked on the place sometimes and had cook outs. One afternoon I came down a little early to mow the grass. I brought two Dr. Peppers. I was drinking one, and went to put the 2nd one in the fridge, but noticed it needed cleaning out. So, I cleaned out the refrigerator, leaving only some salad dressing, ketchup...a few condiments. I put my 2nd Dr. Pepper front and center in the fridge. After mowing the grass, and feeding the horses, I came back inside to get my soda for the drive home. It wasn't there. I was thinking maybe I had already taken it out, so I went outside and looked on the picnic table. Not there. I came back in and again, looked in the fridge. Not there. I was really thirsty and it was getting late. One more time...outside, looked all around. Not there. Once more looked in the fridge...nothing there but the few bottles of salad dressing, etc. In other words, practically empty. Finally, gave up. I locked the building, locked the gate and drove home without it. The next day I came down to finish mowing. Again, I brought two Dr. Peppers. I took one in the shop to put it in the fridge. Opened the door....front and center, the Dr. Pepper from the night before! Now, why wasn't it there the day before? Where did it go? I was the only person there...I have no neighbors and I was far out in the country. My husband and daughter laughed at me. Like I had just over looked it. A few years passed and my daughter was going to college in Houston, and living in an old apartment building across from the college. She got ready for a date one night, and went to put her compact in her purse. She had left it on the edge of the sink in her very tiny bathroom. Wasn't there. She looked everywhere for it. Came back later that night, went in the bathroom, and there it was on the edge of the sink. So...now she believes me about the Dr. Pepper, but where do things like that go???...See MoreRE: Living near power lines - how close is too close?
Comments (11)There are different types of Leukemia. So far I haven't found which type was supposedly linked to power lines. I lost my dad to Leukemia in 2006. During the time he was diagnosed I learned a lot about his type which was AML and related to Benzene. He was a mechanic; it was in products we used at the gas station. I worked there 20 years; chances are I will eventually show symptoms :( After my dad died, there were more then 10 people I knew that died from some form of cancer. All of these years I didn't know one person, now there are so many. Except for my dad, I don't recall anyone else that had a type of cancer that was linked to a known cause. If any of you know anyone that worked with Benzene, please have them read up on AML and let them know they need to get their blood tested regularly. People that work/ed in the service station / gasoline field; or a painter are the 2 main professions this affects. I hope that one day cancer will be a thing of the past. My children do not need to lose any more people to this horrible disease. Here is a link that might be useful: Leukemia causes...See MoreMeeting Cyberspace Posters in Real Life.
Comments (37)The first time a KTer (Kathy_VA, who no longer posts here) was coming to our home, DH was horrified--the old "axe murderer" mentality. He made it clear that he would be in another part of the house. Yeah, right. He realized how nice she was, and we didn't have two minutes alone. After that, the Welcome mat was out for KTers. We've also had visits from Marsha_OK, Linda_in_Iowa, Nita and Bobby, Teresa, Ang, and two ladies from Our Humble Home. All have been super, and are welcome for a return visit. Stan bonded with Bobby (Nita's grandson, who was about 10 at the time), and they had a great time. As others have said, Nita is the nicest person on the planet. I wish I could travel all over, and I'd visit every KTer! They are the greatest!...See MoreDupont Zodiac London Sky - Has anyone seen it in real life?
Comments (171)So I just called Corian and spoke with customer service. They said that everything as far as tone of background and colors of veining have remained the same. The veining was a more directional pattern for awhile but any slab that is made after 2019 will have more of the random veining in it. He said “ the veining issue was corrected”. Not sure if people were calling in and complaining, wanting old, random veining pattern back. Whatever the reason, the more random pattern will be in slabs made after the year 2019!! YAY!!...See MoreRachel
