Need help identifying this flowering tree

Sorry the pictures of the flowers aren't great. They're up high and it's the best my phone would do. The flowers are pinkish/purple. I have attached a picture of the trunk as well. Thanks!

Anything besides the timing to indicate that particular cultivar? And not another of the many kinds of Japanese cherry? (Glen Cove should indicate the geographic area, as that will be pertinent).

Thanks both of you. I had a small plant of this a few years ago, but it didn't survive winter so I never saw it in bloom. Had no idea this was it! I took a few flowers to try from seed, but may get me one in the spring. Very nice!

This is a guess, only a guess as there are many maladies that affect "flowering trees." If your flowering tree is a hawthorn, what you might be seeing is the result of cedar-quince rust. hortster Here is a link that might be useful:

rashnj, you would do well to observe Paulownia all year round, not just the one week when it is "pretty". Search this forum to find out that this is one of the most hated trees in our part of the country.
