If it were me, I'd prefer the one wide unit. You're smart to get the cordless. My sunporch has the cords on the cellular shades and eventually they seize up and cause problems.

Thanks for the kind words, our place is still in progress but we love it so far. I love having the mudroom bench! The paint color used in all the rooms is SW #7533 Khaki Shade. The laundry room is SW #7532 Urban Putty one shade lighter than the khaki shade. Your home has great potential with just some paint and furniture arranging. I do not think drapes to the ceiling would work, that would draw your eye up to the height of the room. I like what you have on the dining window but you could also use 2 simple roman shades on the dining window to add some texture and color. If you use a more neutral colored curtain panel on the sliding door with your current rod that would look nice. Try getting panels that blend with the paint color you choose. I love your fireplace and armoire is it possible to use the armoire for the tv instead of the table its on? I also have a westie she seems to get in my photos also :) If you put a large area rug down and pull the furniture away from the wall and arrange it around the fireplace that will ground the space. Try putting the couch across from the fireplace and a chair on each side and the Ottoman as a coffee table with a tray and books on it. Add a nice neutral area rug. Put one of the chairs where the tv is and the other facing the sliding door. I think the large wall hanging might look nice in the dining area. I just posted a message in basement forum and then realized I never posted about my new windows. I ended up having a place called Cadillac Windows (I forget if forum rules allow that. If not I will fix) install my windows and they suggested Andersen 100 series. I have had them since April or so and I am happy with them so far. Ended up being $4500. Much better than some of the other estimates I had from Window Pro and I forget who else. Although, iirc, those numbers were for a different type of window. I did have one issue with my front .25/.5/.25 window. On one part of the frame Andersen tightened a screw just a little too much and had about a 1/2-3/4 tear on the inside of the frame. They had a guy come out and squirt in some silicone ( I think) and seal it up. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me in the butt later but that's a done deal now. I can say the energy saving is a little better but what I like even more is how much quieter it is! Anyway, thanks for the advice early this year and enjoy this winter. I will stay inside and keep warm!

Another option which we don’t want is a picture window which does not open & we want something that has the ability to open. With casements, be mindful of the prevailing wind direction. You don't want the cranked out window to block the prevailing wind. If the windows are on the side of the house that catches prevailing wind, be mindful of which direction the window cranks out. Also, if the house is oriented so that the windows catch prevailing wind, it doesn't do much good for the middle window in a 3 window bank to be operational. The middle window can be fixed glass.
