Comments (52)I'm back!! Sorry, had to take a little break to move into MY new house! Yippee!! Now, on to the important things...if you want to do a "gallery wall" above the couch, which is what it's called when you group lots of pictures together, why not incorporate the family painting into the grouping? Use it as the center (or off-center slightly) beginning piece, then arrange everything around it. The best way to set up the gallery wall is to lay it out on the floor just like you want it on the wall, then rearrange until it's perfect before you put a single nail in the wall. I think you could do a really unique gallery wall because of the angle under the stairs there...and it would be a great counterbalance to the fireplace!! :) I'm going to solicit Karen to help me when I start on my living room in a couple of weeks. I loved her suggestions, especially the fact that she was so specific. Me suspects that Karen is an interior decorator and has a really good eye, especially compared to me. :)...See MoreLiving room design help for mid-century ranch
Comments (8)I see this languishing way down on the Design Dilemma queue. That's not good. There is something so wonderful about the light spaciousness of that room that I'd suggest you go for a very light grey -- I think cool will work better with the blue-green range of colours you are thinking of. White trim. I was thinking it might be best to decide on the fireplace when your furniture is in and the walls are painted, but I suspect carrying the wall cover over it will work best, because it really is a rather imposing chunk, isn't it? Not sure about the aqua ceiling .... I'd like to hear others' opinions about that....See MoreLiving Room Design Help
Comments (32)You started the room wrong by placing the TV over the fireplace and now you simply continued to compound your problems with this room. Why would you place chairs with the backs to the TV???????? The TV position is a daily issue here on Houzz. It should have been positioned between the windows, or on the opposite wall. This allows your room to work for general entertaining or TV watching Groveraxle has already shown you how to angle the TV so it can be seen from the kitchen. If you leave the TV over the FP then place the furnishings at right angles to one anoother....See MorePlease help with rug and artwork suggestions for this living room
Comments (10)this is Prampton+Machine woven at Wayfair.com an inexpensive modern rug that would look nice with your sofa... I'd forget the matching mirrors nothing fantastic to reflect. a white ceiling fan to disapear into the ceiling, not stand out. lift the plants off the floor with stands, and add drapery panels extended beyond the trim on the window (rod at ceiling height to draw eye upward) . the symetrical lamps on the sofa table are too matchy, try a floor lamp Any thought on spinning the sectional and having the sofa table exposed, for a softer cozier seating area? a lower larger coffee table or ottoman? Don't go too light on the floor, you want to see some grain, but I think your options are great. group your greens, too many scattered around justs makes too much visual stimulation. this rug looks better in person....See MoreVks248
