I understand the stress of flying nonrevenue. Happy you were able to get back. I was watching this morning’s news and there seem to be a whole lot of people who can’t get flights back. You were lucky.

No screening that I saw. I’m not sure if there were flights that were being flagged on return to US. Just glad to be home. When my adult sons are worried about me thats when I get upset.

Glad you made it home safely. There was a news report this morning about folks scrambling to get out of LHR, and one young couple was interviewed at the Heathrow Novotel. They had been on hold with UA for over four hours trying to change their schedule. Not a fun time to be traveling anywhere these days, I would imagine.

You mentioned little talk of the virus, but I have been reading BBC news reports, and even in the smaller East Anglia towns that we were planning to visit in early May there are reports of confirmed COVID-19. It's there, and it wll be spreading there just as it is here. Probably much more talking will ensue in the days to come.

Cancellation is not actually completed yet, as it involves contacting a number of different folks, but I'm working on it. I looked at canceling the Airbnb reservation yesterday, but it appears that a $132 service fee is still going to be withheld if we cancel (although the rest of the sizeable deposit will be refunded). I need to look further into this, as I think ALL funds should be returned to me. If they insist on retaining the fee, I may just rebook the accommodation for a much later date this year or for the spring of 2021 and let them continue to hold the deposit. I'd rather just have it all returned to me though, so I can regroup and not be 'bound' by anything at the moment.

Our AA tickets were booked with AAdvantage awards, and it looks like we can't make any changes to those reservations online but must CALL instead. I dread that; I have a feeling I'll be on hold FOREVER, so I'm putting that off as long as possible. We weren't scheduled to fly out until April 30.

My son was lucky, he is flying from Madrid to Gatwick. He had to fly in to Orlando instead of Miami or Fort Lauderdale. He just booked yesterday for a Saturday flight.

His university has canceled classes and is finishing online.

Ida, my sister had to contact AA yesterday to cancel a fight, too. She opted to get a call back instead of remaining on hold, and heard back from them within 1.5 hours.

My coworker was supposed to travel to Spain today. Yes, she was still planning to go as of the other day, though the people she was travelling with canceled. Now with the ban and ramp-up of Covid19 in Spain, not going was the right choice.
