Good to know, Frank. Very doubtful we'd get to 28, but still a possibility to get to 31-32 for a few hours. Sure hope not. My Desert Delight nectarine is in full on bloom. It's one of the earliest of all my stone fruits. That any my two cherry trees (Minnie Royal and Royal Lee), and the cherries are also starting to bloom. Everything is a wee bit early here. Patty S.

I'd imagine it won't affect leaf buds this early on, but would the blooms be toast? ===>>> if a dormant plant comes active.. and then is hit with a freeze [we arent talking frost here] ... man you guys ought to live in the great white north... lol... then all active buds can be lost.. depending on the depth and duration of the cold ... up here.. we pray they stay fully dormant late into spring ... many plants ... trees.. shrubs... etc.. can rebud.. and releaf at least once ... and sometimes twice ... i like to say.. they have a sense of huor about the first time.. but really get pissed off with the second insult in a given season .... most conifers though e.g. .. can not... so if you kill those buds.. kapout ... [canadian pronunciation.. lol] .. you lose ... ergo.. ipso presto ... your worries about flower and seed is kinda like coming at it from the wrong direction... you better hope your trees live.. let alone bloom and seed ... i have seen bud damage at 31 degrees... and as long as i live.. i have never seen one freakin degree after dormancy broke ... and i have seen plants.. continue to leaf out.. like nothing happened.. and then die a month later .... and all i could attribute it to was the freeze ... unless i misunderstand your situation... you better start holding your breath.. if your plants broke dormancy .... ken ps: if they started flowering.. they broke dormancy ...

How exciting to see buds! I'm still hoping for a few more weeks of warmer weather because I am no where ready to bring my plants in.

Growing inside is one option. If it's already gone dormant and been around freezing for 100 hours, then it should be able to fruit this year even if you keep it growing inside. I've heard that is the chill requirement, but perhaps even less or not at all for some varieities. If you don't want to do that, then how cold does the garage get? Does it get below freezing? You could put it in garage, and put a cardboard box over it, maybe stuff a few leaves or packing peanuts in there for insulation. If it was going to go way below freezing, you could use a seedling heat mat underneath, or a 15W lightbulb to keep it above freezing. Or something similar. You only really need to make sure the roots don't freeze. Good luck.
