Thanks ArthurmðÂÂÂ, looks like your right about Tiger Crow, mine looks somewhat related. Ok so to get things stright, I bought it at a bear root orchid sale, it was not bear rootðÂÂÂ. It it's packed tightly in spagnum moss.thats why l l said as soon as it has finished blooming it's am going to repot it. I find myself loving oncidiums and I am hoping to get a few more varieties of it. I have a cockleshell orchid that I got bear root and I grew it and it put out two new psudobulbs which are in spike so I am thinking the other types of oncidiums might also love my environment and care. I have a Ph.D. in Victorian literature (not art)--the same period as this painting. It is pretty commonly understood that the sentimentalization of the child body in the period often DOES have an unacknowledged sexual component. So I think it is quite understandable that many modern viewers are made uncomfortable by these paintings, especially the first one. It isn't just in the head of the viewer--there's something in the paintings provoking the response (which, as you can see, is fairly common!).

Hey SweetMonk, They are easier to find then you think, the Magnifica variety. Hirt's Nursery sells them through Ebay but there is a vendor in Fort Lauderdale that sells much much bigger specimens then Hirt's on Ebay as well. They throw out new growth constantly over the summer, and with shade are a pretty much neglect type of plant. Luckily no lubbers on them as of yet.

I’m really curious to see what this cactus will like with a year’s worth of good growth. With the right amount of light will it grow little ball blobs on the tips or will the skinny parts just fill out. Maybe a littler bit of both. I would personally leave it alone, but slowly acclimate to more sun. In the end you will have a one of a kind cactus;). I have an Echinocereus that has mealybug damage on the top growth. Now it grows little cactus out of the damaged area. It’s a one of a kind;).
