Have you gone chair shopping yet? Often the biggest chairs aren’t necessarily the most comfortable. Have him sit in several before you decide. Does he prefer a recliner? Or a chair and ottoman? These chairs come in all sizes and shapes. My husband’s favorite “easy” chair is the Alex chair by Arhaus. It comes in leather or fabric, and as a recliner or with a matching ottoman. It fits him. So....don’t rule out an “easy” chair without having him try them on for size. Then, perhaps, make a deal. He chooses the chair; you choose the fabric. Explore your Options! I think a rich cream color would look very nice with the rest of the room. I am thinking something very much as the pillows in the left of your photo appear. Then if you're not totally wed to the mirror above the fireplace you can bring in artwork and some candles to pick up the cream of the chair. I assume the recliner you mentioned is in the upper right hand side (where for some reason another commenter moved a television into place.). A pillow or small throw placed on the chair can correlate to the rich cognac color of your sofa and love seat. Good luck.

I’m trying to get a color to go with the gray couches . Not sure the light gray at bottom of pic or the darker gray at top of same pic. Putting in a dark gray rug . Theirs a red accent wall thinking of paint the dark teal at bottom of other photo. Not sure to paint entrance with dark gray and the living room with light gray or opposite way . Any help would be appreciated thanks .

Try a chaise sofa and one chair in the TV room so you have room for kids play area. In the living room use a 3-seat sofa and two chairs grouped around a coffee table and use floor lamp flanking the sofa.
