I would probably get a deep gray/grape purple couch and deep wine red chairs and add some vinyard art, but if I had to pick only from your two samples I would agree with Suzannamcd and do dark on the chairs and the lighter on the couch.

I have a couch that is the S.06 color with neutral walls and gold accents in my home and I love it! The contrast is really nice because the furniture can stand on its own and not blend so much into the palette. I have also added some deep indigo velvet curtains and some pillows on the couch to match, throwing in some cream and grey dec pillows, too, to bring it all together.

With the color that is close to your wall color, it doesn’t give you much contrast, but you could bring in color in pillows, rug, etc. One idea could be to tie in the tans in your space, which could be a nice look. Below: Similar color scheme as above, but wall is white, so more contrast with sofa color. But this would work with your wall color, too - and ties in the tans, etc.

My 2 cents: Sofas are not something you buy often so I would go neutral and add throw pillows for color. Make sure to get stain protection so your sofa fabric lasts longer. If you want a statement piece with a bold color, do that with an armchair or ottoman. That said, is West Elm your only option? The quality of their construction, in general, is not the highest compared to Crate and Barrel, for example. Because a good sofa is such a long-term investment, I would recommend paying for good quality construction. Good luck!
