I'm sowing consecutive rows of snow and snap peas now. However, I'm near the Ca. foggy coastal - zone SS 22-23, but peas like the cooler weather. This may not be helpful, but if you are in Ca., Google "Digital Gardener's Southern California Vegetable Planting Guide." I find this the most helpful information for my particular zone. But there are a lot of different zone 9's - I realize that. But if you don't experience serious frosts, then this may be helpful for your need. Bejay

kms4me-I sent you an email. Thanks for the list. I discovered this summer that my Aconitum napellus was germinating after 8 months in the fridge. A shock to me as I didn't know waht to do with them in August. So, I started my Aconitums early this year hoping for germination in April. Anyone else have lists for me?

If gardening teaches us anything, it's patience! Imagine growing bonsai... some trees are never finished being sculpted into the grower's idea of the best form! After several decades, the tiny trees are still being carefully clipped and formed into art... that takes an immense amount of patience! Growing Hippeastrum bulbs from seed to flowering takes quite a bit of patience! In the best of conditions, it's two years until you'll see your first bloom... in conditions that are good, but not absolutely perfect, you're looking at three to five years! It's worth it to me, but many don't have that level of commitment... a true gardener, a passionate gardener, knows that nature must take it's course... and that means time. But the anticipation of seeing that first scape grow, and that first bud form, is worth the wait! And the experience gained is priceless! So... have a bit of patience! Mother Nature will show you her beautiful jewels in due time! :-)

Tom, I got my seeds last week...thanks a million!!! ;o) I was calling some of our local nurseries before I received the seeds to see if anyone had a Wafer Ash & I found a tree locally. When I called, the nurseryman said he thought he had one but it wasn't in very good shape & I could have it for free. I said, "YES, I'd LOVE it!" Not realizing that he was referring to a 25 gallon tree! It is almost 8ft tall & looks like "Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree"!!! IT's HUGE!!! It is alive & he said that it has been in the pot way too long. It had a year on the pot of 2006. It also had a price of $225 marked out to $50...I can't believe he gave it to me!!! What a blessing! I took it home last Thusday thinking I could get it in the ground this weekend & it has now been raining for 4 days straight! Maybe this week some time, I can play "hooky" from my work & I can get it planted...it's supposed to rain next weekend, too! I have a BIG hole to dig...LOL!!!!
