Sorry, I accidentally posted this prematurely & could not figure out how to edit or remove it. 😊 We are lightening up our floor, which was dark walnut with oil-based sealant. And we are extending it from the kitchen to the dining room & livingroom, which were carpeted. This time, we are going with water-based sealant, looking to cancel out the reddish tones. We just put in Dove White kitchen cabinets, with a light quartz countertop and off-white backsplash, with a navy buffet. It's a 1973 house we are trying to update, bit by bit. I'd call our style transitional, a blend of old and new.

I take it they will be lacing in more of the hardwood?

Before you make a decision, make sure the test patches have a single coat of finish over top. Even though things SOUND like a water based product, many refinishers will use an oil MODIFIED water based product. And those oil modified products turn a light yellow tinge.

Always view your colour patch with a coat of the polyurethane you will be using. Anything else and you are picking blind.
