Sweet Window Treatment
Comments (31)I love the way the fabric drapes on the curtains, but not so crazy about the chopped off length. Assuming the black chair usually sits back against the wall rather than in the middle of the floor, I think they'd look better pulled over in the other direction. As for the rest of the room, to me, it's a mish mash. Proof that just because you have nice stuff doesn't mean you have the good sense to put it all together. As someone else said, I can't help but think of a spare bedroom where the homeowner put Grandma's quilt, and pillows from her MIL, and the last chair from her Mother's dining room set; IOW, stuff she doesn't want to have to look at every day because she doesn't like it, but can't get rid of it out of guilt. That or "colorblind" comes to mind - what is with that wallcolor? The bed could be sitting catty corner because it's simply too big for the room.(or the photo stylist might have moved it and the chair so they would appear in the same shot) Then again, if the bed is *that* big, you have to turn it to block the closet (or Heaven forbid, bathroom) maybe you should think about a smaller piece of furniture? Can't you hear the hostess taking guests on a tour of the house? "And here's the bed..." Not room, just bed. :^) It reminds me of my very favorite, long gone antique store. It was basically just a tiny, 800 sq ft sharecropper's shack chopped up into an impossible number of rooms. The woman had great taste, and found the absolute neatest stuff, *BUT* she never went to any trouble to display her treasures. If she could cram a Queen sized bed into a 10X10 foot room with a dresser, a vanity, an antique baby carriage and a lit curio cabinet full of depression glass, that's what she did. If the quilt on the bed was brown and orange, that's where the red, white and blue homespun pillows went. (As opposed to putting them on the bed in the next room with the turkey red and white quilt) It was not uncommon to have to crawl *over* furniture just to get to the next room. I loved to shop there, but then, I was young enough to scramble through the obstacle course to a)find what I wanted, and B)usually manage to get back out of there with my purchase in hand, though I regret not being able to buy a dresser because it was so blocked in my other stuff I couldn't get it through the door....See MoreWhat bedding would go with this rug? Comments (18)I think the bedding would be gorgeous with that rug if you take the bedding for a neutral. Now cross your eyes and see the solid neutral color in the bedding. Purchase your bedding and let the rug be the item that sets the stage for accent colors for in room. Beiges, khakis, sortagolds, taupes, blacks and neutrals can become wonderful room accents for your "now neutral" bedding. Oh, by the way, grab a couple pillows in a satin like fabric near or exactly the color of your background bedding color and take a piece of the bedding to the paint store and work your wall magic to pull it together....See MoreWhat do you think? Comments (18)I wouldn't go with a plain fabric but something such as what Jodie White posted on the right - something with some texture or as kelleg69 suggested, a geometric pattern that is a tone on tone. You also really need to think long and hard about how you feel about colour. If you do like colour you could try a yellow/grey pattern or an aqua/grey or cherry red/grey (ok that might be a little out there). Do you have some ideas as to what colours you will have as an accent in towels, mats, etc....See MoreIs Pinnacle a good window treatment brand?
