Decorating with Rattan - Help!

We are re-doing my 11 year old daughter's room and she wants to do a beach theme. I love how rattan looks as it looks beachy/coastal, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to decorate with it. There's rattan headboards, chairs, table lamps, mirrors and I can't decipher what items I should have rattan and which should not. Her dresser and desk are just going to be white furniture (IKEA Hemnes) but I'm just getting overwhelmed with the options. Also she wants to do a hanging rattan chair from Pier 1, but obviously then the rattan may not be the same color as other rattan items in the room. I definitely don't want to overdo it.

what a great idea to use rattan for a beach feeling. I would use rattan in just a few pieces in the room, if you are going to get a hanging rattan chair, I would just maybe do bedside tables and a hanging light fixture. if you do the bed in rattan, I probably wouldnt do anymore than that and the hanging chair.... showing a few inspiration pics

I'm about to re-do my bedroom and add some rattan as well! I agree that you don't want to over do it. I would keep the more expensive things like the bed, dresser and desk in other materials. Add the chair, a light fixture as suggested, and a rattan mirror over the dresser. Then do a headboard in a wood tone. You could do nightstands in a painted finish like the second picture Theresa posted.

I cant help you find a decorator but people on here can help you decorate for free... just post a picture of a room and let us know what you will be keeping or what you want to get new. Let us get some idea of your style or colors and many here will have some ideas to offer you. Good luck,it will be fun! Its like getting 10 decorators instead of paying for 1. Some of us here are professional decorators (not me) and some just like to decorate for fun.( like a hobby). A few of us are "addicted" but its all in good fun! PLease PLease! ... opps... am I begging? :)

Your rugs are great, such good colors for both rooms, very lively and vibrant. That dark fireplace wall not only “disappears” the TV (brilliant) but also has such a nice grounding effect in that room. Well done. Both rooms looked pulled together. And when you’re ready you can still replace the rattan chair fabric and about anything would work with the room.

Abandon the idea. Put the sideboard under the window. What is going in the rest of the space? You're hung up on a wall, with everything on that wall, far too small. Move the sideboard. Paint yourself some really large canvas art !!We don't even know what you are using the floor space FOR: ) Get rid of all the dingle dangles except the track lighting. You don't need track lighting shining at a mirror. ANY mirror.

If you don't go with the hanging chair, consider a papasan. :)
