As you can see, the indoor unit is mounted near the ceiling. mini split in home mini split home stock Inside the unit is a fan and a set of self-adjusting louvers. The louvers can be configured by the remote control to sweep back and forth and up and down, or point the cool air in a specific direction or directions. The louver directions are easily set with the remote control. We love our mini-splits because they are quieter than the industrial-strength fans we used to have, and they provide near instantaneous cooling. When the unit is off, the louvers close, making the unit look even sleeker. In this photo, the louvers are closed almost all the way: indoor unit closed The indoor unit is connected to the outdoor unit by two insulated refrigerant pipes and a power line. We only have to drill a 3″ hole through the wall to run the pipes and wire. And, of course, the hole is behind the indoor unit and made weather tight from the outside....See MoreWhat is the worst "designed" room you ever saw?
Comments (41)Hi, Runninginplace. No, "my" couple had a very popular, long-running HGTV show that appealed to probably young housewives with more scrap shutters and old unmatched furniture than money. You'd recognize their name. I just felt their eager audience deserved much better quality design suggestions. In their hands a $50 one-hour project never looked like anything more. I have to admit, I enjoy the Novogratzs' creations, if not all. Some of the stuff they pick up on their blitzes through secondhand shops is *incredibly* ugly, yet they manage to combine all this stuff into cohesive wholes that are far more than their parts. I couldn't possibly turn them loose on my own home, no matter how in need it is, but they are certainly very competent and talented designers. I have the same sort of different viewpoint regarding Newdawn's example of an awful room. I personally OD on bright pinks in approximately a single glance ("awful" color for me), but that's a nice room. And it obviously belongs to someone who can afford to redo any time she or he feels like picking up the phone. In any case, what we find "awful" because we don't like it (that peculiar portrait) and what's awful because it's bad design (fire hazard mess on sorority wall) are two totally different things....See MoreWhen did the “living room”become “living room space”?
Comments (16)It bothers me when David Visentin says "Dining room area" to describe a room with four walls. He likes to call most rooms "areas" instead of spaces. The term "Open concept" originated in England, I think, and quickly spread to Canada, where Love It or List It originated. I still use the term "open floor plan" instead, which has a longer history. And why do people say "dining room table" instead of "dining table"? In the furniture industry, we never used the term "dining room table". That could refer to any table that happens to be in a dining room. It is similar to people saying "hot water heater" instead of "water heater". You are heating water, you are not heating water that is already hot....See MoreLove this room, but I could never do this room...
Comments (18)I love it, and think that if bed coverings matched more closely, the "haphazard charm" would be lost. This reminds me of so many places I've been in the UK where people simply used what they had and made it work, with character-filled results....See MoreLola-O Casa
